...and who might live in a house like this?
Well, me for a start! Haven't seen this place since I was 11 years old - describing this moment as mad doesn't even come close to giving it justice! Right, sorry I’m so behind with these blog thingies but the pub's been calling me on a daily basis and I’ve had to sort myself out with a job and other such minor things so been a bit distracted. Anyway, as I should've been saying 4 months ago…
The drive from Rockingham to Adelaide took me 4 days in total with stops in Albany, Norseman and Ceduna before finally arriving in Adelaide on Saturday night to meet up with Paul and tom who I'd met in Singapore. I was planning on going to see The Valley of Giants and Esperance on the way through but it was dark or closed when I turned up so no joy there and the Nularbor was just as dull as I imagined - 160km or so of perfectly straight road... yey. During this 4 day drive I was off the beer for 3 of those days so that was the first time that's happened since i left the UK so I suppose that's a plus point (or not, depending on how you look at it?). Oh yeah, I also got followed by a copper for nearly 2hrs doing 140km/h one night (40 over the limit),
Gay isn't the word there really is it...
Tom and Paul mincing it up on the bridge to Granite Island in Victor Harbour, SA. Oh dear... lol and they didn't even pull me - I only passed one car in all that time though so I guess they thought it was OK coz it was so quiet?
Met the lads in the centre of Adelaide when I finally arrived, parked the car up for the extortionate fee of $20 per day then got booked in at The Blue Galah Hostel in the city centre with them 2 then the rest of the night was spent getting wasted in a 24hr sports bar down the road and getting chatted up by this lad I met's missus which was dodgy as but turned out OK thankfully.
The next night we met up with these two girls we'd met the night before (can't tell ya owt about the day coz I was still unconscious), then they took us to this place out of town called The Grand which is a club inside this huge posh hotel complex but the music was a bit poo so wasn't everly impressed with the place so come 3am we fucked off to some club in town for some dirty electro house - get in! Had a mint time in there and didn't wanna leave
The big lobster
God knows why they do it but the Aussie's are obsessed with tacky "big" things like this - fuck knows the score there... even when all me mates were falling asleep in the back room but they shut soon after that so had to.
Amazingly enough, I was up and about at a decent time next day so piled everyone in the Falcon and set off in search of my old house in Strathalbyn! Went completely the wrong way coz didn't have any maps but after an hour of faffing we were on the right track. It was weird as when I got into town coz I knew the place as if I'd never left - i knew where the chippy was, where the decent pub was, paper shop for cigs and even went for a wander round my old school field for the craic! Had a beer in town then decided to head on back coz it was nearly dark and we didn't know how to get home but we made it OK and guess where we ended up that night? The fucking sports bar again till 7am... jesus...
We were 'supposed' to leave that morning but no chance considering the state of my head so we postponed it another day and had a boring night in doing jack shit. Tom shoulda
The 12 Apostles
This is on the Great Ocean Road on the way to Melbourne, didn't have enough pics for the blog though in all honesty nailed Tanaiya that night but he's gay so didn't. lol.
Next morning we got up bright and early and were off on the road again - happy days! :o)
