Once again we are in Dubai Airport, not a lot of time to wait between flights, the airport is unbelievably huge, unless you have been there, and gone from terminal to terminal, you can't imagine the size, and they're now building a new bigger airport, due to open in 2020. Our plane was due to depart at 2.05am, we went to the gate and waited, and boarded when we were called. Our departure was slightly delayed, due to the queue ahead of us, of planes incoming and outgoing. Homeward bound, for the next 12.5 hours we will have to try and get some sleep. Up in the air again, we had a meal and a drink, and we all tried to get comfortable for the next few hours. Somehow, I just can't seem to get rid of that snoring sound, this time, someone in the row behind had a very loud snore, I felt like putting a peg on his nose just to shut him up!!! Well, we must have got some sleep over the next few hours, I know I was constantly waking, thinking it must nearly he time to land, only to find that it was only
half an hour since I last looked.
Another meal was beginning to be served, we still had a fair distance to travel, I think we were still going over water near the edge of Australia.
We couldn't complain, the meals on the plane have been really nice and tasty, and a good variety.
Well it was time for our decent into Adelaide, I was still connected to the Internet, and I was talking to our neighbour Michelle, she said planes were still flying over Paradise so they told me they will go outside and watch us fly over. I was sitting by the window, checking out all the places I knew, I spotted our street and our neighbours caravan in the street when I saw a flash, this was Michelle taking a photo of us flying past!!
We landed safely with a beautiful sunset, and once we departed from the plane, we needed to go and collect our pre ordered Duty Free items. After collecting duty free, we had to line up for Customs, which we went through the self serve machines. On to collect our bags, which took ages, then we finally got the green light to exit. Awaiting for us
was Melanie, Sue's dad and Nikki's boyfriend Jayden, (who was so happy to see Nikki). We walked to the car, already noticing the difference in temperature, we left Paris when it was 0 or -2 and at 9.30pm at night in Adelaide, it was about 25 degrees and cooling down.
Good to get home, this time of night getting home is great, not long before we are wanting to go to bed. The unpacking of the bag can wait until tomorrow!! (And the washing!!)
The Good and the Bad with our trip
-----------------------------------
GOOD:
-------
The train system in Switzerland was absolutely fantastic
We had internet 'most' of the time
We had snow!!!
We were able to meet with friends in Switzerland
We bumped into an Adelaide customer in Paris!
Exploring places we've never been to
Ticking off bucket list items!
Being amongst millions celebrating New Year
BAD:
-----
The price of food in Switzerland
We missed one train!! (But caught the next!)
Need more time to travel Europe
Seeing so many homeless street people
Wished there was more snow!
Not having enough time to see and do everything!
