2006………6wks-4th CYCLING TRIP-Gujarat & Southern Rajasthan, INDIA...........
I thought it might be useful or interesting for those of you that don't travel much or find it hard to travel light or have never taken a bicycle travelling, to see what one can fit in a couple of small panniers. The Bike weighs 13kg and so I can't take much weight anyway. In a warm climate it is easy to wash things and to dress lightly and things are well designed now for travel. Below is my packing list which I modify for each trip, depending on what I am doing or going. This is basically my hot climate cycling list.:
PACKING FOR CYCLING IN INDIA 2006
2x Vaude Panniers(Convert to backpacks) / Handlebar Bag (with clear map sleeve on top)
Paddy Palin Hiking Trousers (light weight, zips for ease of getting off with shoes on)
Short Sleeve shirts(x2) / emergency rain poncho ($2 Chip as Chips !)
Reading Glasses (x2) (one is higher strength for poorly lit rooms)
Sunglasses / Bathers
Shorts (x2) / Padlock / Watch with alarm
Light weight long sleeve top
Hanky(x2) / Plastic Plate (to cut up fruit etc )
Travel Umbrella(for rain or hot days)

Power adapter / Travel Towel (light weight, compact, dries quickly)

Mosquito Net (with extra cord to go across a room if necessary)

Bandana (to wet & cool off neck when riding) / Sun Cap

I have reduced the first aid over the years as it is possible to get good access to medication in most cases and I have never been really sick while away. I have a tiny medical book with procedure if get dysentry etc.
