Hi All. I know you have all been waiting with baited breath to see what we have been doing. 2nd Jan 2006
Well we left Melbourne to spend or first 2 nights in Yambuck near a wind farm. On the way there we stopped at Gelong Botanical Gardens for lunch. We stopped at Campertown for a snooze as we wwere a bit tired and then once we found the van park we went for a walk along the foreshore and the river with the boys.
3rd
Nard's parents met us at Yambuck so we spent the day touring around. We went to the Crags which is a rocky outcrop and the volcanic ation had fosilized the tree roots. We went to Tower hill and walked to the top lok out and then around a boardwalk down near the lake. We drove to Port Ferry where Nard's parents shouted dinner (the last supper) at the chip shop.
4th
Walked the beach/river again before we headed off form Yambuck. Drove to Portland where we had lunch. In Portland there is a tram titled Smelter in the Park that takes tourists around the bay to the smelter. It is a bit Simpsons like. We
drove out to Cape Bridgewater which is a beatiful sweeping bay near which is a blow hole and a fosilized Moonah forest. We drove through achers of Pine Forests to Nelson, Mt Gambia and found a great free camp under Mt Shank which looked like a plain old flat topped mountain but turned out to be a magic old volcano that we wlaked up to the top of and around the crater just before sunset.
5th
On the way up to the Coorong we went to a wind farm at Lake Boney had lunch at Beachport where we walked the beach and out on to the Pier about 8-900 meters long. We stopped at Robe lookout and then went to a van park at Policemens Point on the Coorong where we met up with Zena and Lindsay (Zena used to work with Tim). We ventured a few walks however it was a little dificult to not slip in all the dead krill decomposing on the beach. But it was a lovely sunset.
6th
We went for a walk ot past Salt Creek where we did the Lakes Nature Trail Walk and sat for a long lunch with Lindsay and Zena.
Came back to camp and relaxed while we were cooked a roast and sat and played cards.
7th
We drove around Lake Alexandra to Goolwa the town to enter Hindmarsh Island to where the Murray Mouth enters the ocean to eat lunch. Drove to Port Elliot for a swim and through Victor Harbor but we did not stop long. We drove across the Flurieu Peninsula to Rapid Bay where we camped the night enjoying a swim and walk.
8th
Drove up the coast to Maslin beach, sort of like Black Rock with sandstone cliffs. We got to Kristian's on West Lake Shore. Found a van park 20 minutes out had a swim and came back here for fish and chips on the beach.
9th
Well we have been for a drive through the adelaide hills. We then met up with Kristian and had a drink whilst we wrote up our bloggers on his computer. Then we went up Belair National Park for a picnic in the park. it was lovely and cool up there a change from the last 2 days weather. We then stopped off at Windy Point (like Mt Dandy lookout) and watched the sunset. Unbeknown to me
I managed to drop my purse out the car door which had my phone in it. Lucky for me I am a nice person and create lots of good karmah for myself and a nice couple phoned Nard's mobile and met us in Adelaide city at McDonalds and returned all including the money. So then late last night after the purse saga, we tried to publish the bloggers however having issues putting photos on we crashed Kristian's computer.
