Cairns was on the agenda today as we had only driven on the outskirts so far. The main knock on the city that we had read in reports was that it had lost its character from a once charming coastal spot to a thriving tourist destination and urban centre.I think it was inevitable that Cairns would look as it does today as there is so much on offer in this neck of the woods.

We spent a few hours looking around and doing some shopping and all in all the city is aesthetically quite easy on the eye and easy to get around by foot. Many of the spots we came across were for wining and dining and there are many Asian cuisine eateries. This is a fun place for locals and tourists alike.

After finding a bite to eat we strolled along the city’s foreshore area and down towards the wharf where many of the tourist cruises depart from. We hope to spend some more time here over the next few days.
