After a pit stop in Mareeba we drove through to the Speewah Campgrounds. We were lucky nabbing the last spot available. This manicured bit of paradise gave us our own secluded area and there were even cold showers available which is much more than we have had in previous campgrounds.

There was still plenty of daylight to take advantage of so we decided on a walk back into Speewah. The trek was as scenic as it gets. The owners of the surrounding properties are set on green hills with trees as far as the eye can see and we passed some stunning gardens that only a commited green thumb can achieve with much toil over the years.

After the 5 km trek to Speewah the only feasible option on a Sunday afternoon was to have a beer at the local tavern so that we did. It was a lovely little spot with a great beer garden and it gave us the motivation for the trek back again.
