We were up and on the road really early this morning as we had a lot of km's to make. But we weren't far out of town when mom and dad started to wonder about the whereabouts of their camera. We pulled over on the side of the road and searched the car, going through all the bags, retracing our footsteps, everything. No sign of it. Last they remember having it is while we were waiting for our taxi from the harbour the afternoon we got back from the boat. So, back into Airlie beach we go stopping at the hotel and mom and dad searched the entire room, no camera. Next, we rushed back to the harbour and dad ran down to see if the hammer was still there. Mom and I asked at the few places around the harbour if anyone turned in a camera but no go.
Mom called the taxi company we used and they told her anything left in the taxi's gets taken to the police station so we stopped in at the police station. But, all our searching came up with nothing. We were all upset by the thought of leaving the camera somewhere
and someone taking it. Not only that but they had kept their usb stick with the backups of ALL their pictures in the camera case. So that too was gone along with the pictures from their trip to NZ. Luckily we had a lot of the same pictures from Australia so they can have mine. Also, I had downloaded some of their pictures on my laptop to free up space on their memory card so they have a few pictures form Auckland, a few from Christchurch and a few from Australia.
So, we headed off further south. We first went through Mackay where a friend of mine used to live with her husband so we stopped in to check it out. Grabbed a few groceries for lunch here and continued on our way stopping at an I-site. Here the lady recommended to us staying in a town called Yeppoon that night instead of Rockhampton. She booked us into a one bedroom apartment overlooking the ocean there for quite a good price. Yeppoon is a bit off the main highway.
It's a very lovely quiet resortish kind of town that seems to be a bit undiscovered. Our apartment was
more then what we could have imagined. I had my own bed in the living room and mom and dad had their own room. We decided to go out for thai food that night and found a great thai restaurant in town. We stocked up on a few more groceries and headed back to the apartment. As I got out of the car I noticed a little toad. Then we looked down by the pool area and thought we saw a bunch of small birds. Nope, turned out to be toads. There were sooo many and BIG ones. Dad and I got down there for a closer look.

Yeah...those are cane toads and they're massive pests. You guys should have brought out the hockey sticks and played toad hockey! :p
