We were up early not like you could sleep in, I was dying from the heat in the boat. We had breakfast first and then suited up to go snorkeling again. We got to snorkel in the bay we were already parked in so we hopped into the zodiac and slid into the water. There is a big fish here called Elvis and another called Priscilla. They are huge fish and very friendly. I did get to see him swimming around but I didn't get too close. Another boat full of people got in the water with us and they kind of over took the area so our little group swam over to another area to see more coral. They were throwing bread into the water again to attract the fish. These ones get right up in your face ahhhhhh! It was still pretty cool. We all had too hard a time getting back into the zodiac from the water so we all hung onto the rope and he towed us back over to the boat. That was a fun little ride!
Once back on the boat we unsuited and prepared to put the sails up even though there wasn't
much wind. SOme of the boats helped out pulling the sails up including dad. The sails were up, then engine shut off and we slowly glided through the water. The boys tried really hard to get in some real sailing for us but the wind just wasn't cooperating. So the sails came back down after about an hour or so and we had lunch.
After lunch we tried again to sail and the sails came back up but even less wind this time around so our skipper made a decision based on tides to get us back into Airlie beach before the tide was out too far for us to dock. So the sails came back down and the engine turned back on. We arrived back into Airlie around 3 in the afternoon. The boats all have their own reserved tables down at one of the pubs so we set a meeting time for all of us.
We called a cab and waited for one to pick us up to go back to the hotel. Back at the hotel we were drenched in sweat so we hopped into the pool to cool off. We all got showered and
got ready and went for a little drive around the area and caught the sunset. We met everyone at the pub and had a meal and a couple of free jugs of beer together. We were heading off early in the morning so we didn't stay out too late and went back to make sure we were all packed up for the next day.
I thought that I'd just add this in at the end here. Most of the boats taking tourists out to the Whitsundays now are former racing boats from the Americas cup races. Depending on how much money you want to spend you can get a very luxurious boat to one like ours that was a decent size but nothing fancy. Our boat was a former racing boat and won a few races. Some neat history!
