Out On The Town in Townsville
Out On The Town in Townsville Hello to you.
This is my first travel blog entry. I will try and update it as often as possible including photos.
I will relay to you all the news so far and the plan for the next few weeks. At the moment we ('we' being my family, George and i) are in Townsville, Queensland. It is a small army barracks town where my family have moved to from Sydney. The climate is very Tropical with blazing heat and monsoon like rains, the locals call it "Brownsville". We have been here for a month and my summary is although there is not that much to do and the Nightlife is pretty poor, the awesome weather means if you wanted you could have a 'barbie' every evening and plan anything in the day. Also the wondorous Magnetic Island is very close by only a 15 min ferry from town and it is exremely beautiful. The beaches could be from a Caribean catalogue and the island itself looks like something from Jurassic Park. Me an George spent 3 days there and got our first taste of Hostel life which, although i ran out of money and had to starve for a

George near the beach day, and our clothes stank because of our wet towells, was FANTASTIC. We met to really cool english travellors who we watched the Toad Races with, they were run by some crazy Toad Man who took bets on them. Great stuff. We had a few drinks that night and George got smashed and started arguing with fellow travellors about nothing so i sent him to bed. We also did a massive 12km, cross island walk where i almost died due to heat exhaustion and the fact that George drank all the water so i had to drink some yukky water that had bugs in it and feared for disease i was thankfully squits free though. I'm currently employed in a cocktail bar where i am being taught all the cool skills. George and i have done a few things since we have been up here. We scaled Castle Hill and George almost fainted so we got a lift down and plenty of lounging in the pool or lagoon.
This Friday we both fly back down to Sydney. We are staying at my friend Jess' house the first night but have hostel accomadation booked for the rest of the week

George near the beach untill Simon and Tom arrive on the 7th. This Saturday we are going to what i believe is the best nightclub in Sydney; "Tank" to meet all my mates and party on down. Dan Akenhead is also coming as he is in the area. Should be a good laugh.
Friday the 9th i leave my beautiful friends and head back up to Townsville to squeeze in another 2 months work while the boys rip up the South and East coast of Australia meeting me in Brisbane for the flight over to New Zealand on the 1st of April.
I will post again after Sydney to let you know how we fared. xxx
