Heyho!!

We got to Surfers Paradise late afternoon, rented a surfboard and went straight to the beach which was just across the road from our hostel! The waves were way to big and choppy though and after watching Greg look like he was about to drown for a while until he gave up, I decided to not even bother putting myself through it! So we just chilled on the beach before treating ourselves to a yummy Indian meal!

The next morning we went to the travel agents to book our Fraser Island and Whitsunday Islands trip as apparantly there were limited spaces left! We got everything sorted and needed to be in Rainbow beach for 7pm that night for our Fraser Island briefing as we were off to Fraser the next day! We then spent the rest of the morning on the beach, again trying to surf but with no luck! :o( We then had a yummy lunch and set off for Rainbow Beach.... almost half an hour down the road Greg realised he had left his passport etc. in the hostel safe so we had to turn back! I have to admitt that this little mishap did comfort me somewhat that I'm not the only scatterbrain in the world which my mum had led me to believe! However, this delay combined with being misinformed about how long the drive would take meant that we soon realised we were never in a million years going to make it on time (despite some consistent neglecting of the speed limits!) which would potentially mean that we would lose our Fraser Island trip! :o( We rang the hostel just before 7pm to say that we were about 45minutes away and was there any way we could still be allowed on the trip the next day and luckily she told us that one of the previous groups had damaged the car we were supposed to be taking so our trip had been postponed by a day! Phew! :o) So that meant we were still able to do our trip and we got an extra nights accomodation free! :o) Again, proving that no matter how disorganised you are and no matter how many chances you take... things always turn out OK! :o) Although this time we did scare ourselves more than usual.... especially as the fact the petrol light came on about an hour before we got to Rainbow Beach with no petrol station in sight the rest of the way We were convinced we were going to break down in the middle of nowhere..... so the rest of the journey was pretty much spent in silence, both just hoping and praying that the petrol would last... until we burst into giggles when we got there saying we knew we'd be fine because we always were despite our ridiculously irresponsible travelling methods!! :o) Don't worry though... now I'm travelling on my own again I am being more careful as it's not nearly as funny when things go wrong when you are on your own! :o(
