Golden sands and blue seas reminded us of happy times on Christmas morning.
What better than to take the water taxi to Stradbroke Island on a sunny Sunday morning. The day promised blue skies and temperatures of 24', not bad for an autumnal day! The water taxi is just like the City Cat Taxis on the river and with their powerful engines we crossed the waters to Dunwich in 25 minutes and found the bus to Point Look Out waiting to take us the 20 minute drive to the north of the island. Since staying at Domain we discovered we can walk along Home Beach with their beautiful silver gum trees creating a speckled back drop to the beach. Then on to Cylinder Beach around the rocky headland and onto Deadmans Beach, a smaller sandy beach surrounded by mangroves and gum trees. Ahead of us the red rugged cliffs of Dune Rocks jutted out into the sea, crowning the headland and the beginning of Frenchmans Beach, our favourite place on the island.
We were able to enjoy a quiet sit snuggled into a recess in the cliffs and out of the wind and take in the sunshine and the changing tide line, perfect. Ospreys and White Bellied Sea Eagles circled the skies above our

heads and were chastised by smaller birds in a pointless challenge for air space.
The view from the top at Point Look Out is always a wonderful sight and we sat and ate a meat pie and chips for lunch, who could ask for more?
By the time we walked around the Gorge to the South Headland the waves had increased in size and velocity, foam was whisking across the surface and filling the gorge with a cappuccino topping. No chance of any turtle and ray sightings this time just an all embracing windy facial!
We made a promise to return using our discounted book of ferry tickets at the end of July to do some whale watching, a great place to see the migrating mammals with their young.
A great way to de-stress the weeks work away and refresh the batteries, would highly recommend this therapy anytime.
I hope our friends and family who have visited Straddie with us on their visits to Australia enjoy looking at these photos and bring back some happy memories? We also look forward to sharing this beautiful island with more of you when next you visit us. This is on our TO DO
