St LawrenceSt LawrenceSt Lawrence

Noticeboard in camping area.
We have finally hit the road after spending time at Rob & Tracy's in Gladstone to make a carrier for the outboard motor that fits on the back of the van. Our first stop on the road was an overnight at Yaamba about 30klms north of Rockhampton. Not a bad spot but very close to the road so very noisy, toilets were good & for $2 you can get a shower at the servo across the road. Also handy for thr Royal Oak Hotel next door which does counter meals & very reasonably priced drinks. We then moved on to St Lawrence to wait for the delivery of our satellite dish set top box which had to go back to the distributer to get an upgrade as it was still set for europe & would only work here if it was on a backward slope. Hopefully it will arrive at the post office today & we can move on tomorrow.Darrell & Dawn caught up with us yesterday lunchtime as they are on their way back to Bundy from a wedding near Townsville. They have gone fishing with Tony this morning while I do the blog. We went fishing yesterday morning & I caught one bream,

no more bites!! St Lawrence is very small with a post office, small store, hotel & bowls club, there's also supposed to be an RSL but we have'nt found it so far.The camping area is very nice, the toilets & showers are very clean & modern with a shower costing $1 for 3 minutes hot water which is very hot & good pressure. There's also a dump point & drinking water. Its really the showgrounds & there's plenty of room for big rigs like ours. There's a donation box & a caretaker calls each day to keep things clean. We moved on the next morning heading north & are now at Whitsunday caravan park right on the banks of the O'Connell River which is 20klms south of Proserpine. It's a lovely spot & the park is very nice & costs $22 overnight with power.Tomorrow wehead for Funny Dunny Caravan Park near Home Hill.

Tony & Rob did a lot of modifying so the motor is easy to get off the van & onto the boat without too much effort.
