On Tuesday we went to the Wildlife Habitat at Port Douglas where the staff were getting ready for the cyclone which was heading our way. We were due to fly out on Wednesday morning and the cylclone was due to hit some time Wednesday night so we thought we would be OK. We saw tawny frogmouth birds (not owls), cassowaries, kookaburras and lorikeets and we fed the kangaroos. When we left we went to see what we could find out about the cyclone.
