We are engaged!!

On sunday the 17th of december 2006 it was our 9 month anniversary, so to celebrate this, we went out for dinner. We went for dinner at Zinc restaurant. We had ciabatta bread with dips, barramundi spring rolls and for mains, we had spagetthi bolongese and lamb cutlets. We also had a few bourbons and a sparkling wine.
After we finished dinner, we sat talking to each other for a while. Petra was wearing a black ring on her wedding finger, i asked her what she would do with the ring if i asked her to marry me. She said that she would take it off, so i took that ring off her finger and put it in my pocket, and went around the table to where petra was sitting and dropped to a knee and asked petra to marry me. She was shocked and did not know if she should scream and cry and jump up and down but instead she said yes and gave me a big hug and a kiss. And that she said yes, was the most important thing! After taking a few moments to settle down we went home so that we could start telling our love ones, my parents were the first to know and as soon as we could we were on the phone to tell petra's parents. But her sister was not home, so we had to call back in the moring to tell her. So petra's mum and dad had to keep quiet about it untill we called back to tell her. She was so happy for us when we told her.
Since then we have been getting phonecalls from friends and family to congratulate us. It is great. We are happier then ever!!

Congrats you two!! What a beautifull ring! I can see you are a really happy couple.. So, tot zover mn engels :P Kan ie nou NOG geen nederlands.. Hihi.. Had het je op de msn al gezegd: ben superblij voor jullie... :) En superstoer dat ie voor je op de knieen is gegaan. Dat doet die van mij voorlopig nog niet hoor. Mogen we tegen de tijd dat je voor een jurk gaat shoppen (over een jaartje ofzo) ook meeoordelen? Hallo Bob en Petra, Nog van harte gefeliciteerd met jullie verloving! We kwamen gisteren in Eindhoven je vader, moeder en Agnes tegen (Roermond was niet groot genoeg om echt te winkelen) en toen hoorden we pas dat jullie inmiddels verloofd zijn. De update van 17 december hadden we blijkbaar gemist, dus een beetje laat met onze reactie. We wensen jullie een heel fijne tijd samen en op naar het echte feestje? Hi Petra and Bob, We are not the blogging types. That's why our reaction is 'a bit' late. Anyway: CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement. You both seem to be very happy and that pleases me and Jaap. I never saw Jaap kneeling in front of me. When he proposed me, it was in the midst of some conversation when he said "by the way, why shouldn't we marry?". That was about 40 years ago.
