One of the kangaroos had what looked like a cute LITTLE joey in her pouch, but turned out to be half her height when we saw it out of the puch later in the evening! You wouldn't believe it could've fitted in there unless you saw it.
Our hostel in Noosa North Shore was the nicest place we have stayed so far. Noosa is a busy area on the Sunshine Coast. North Shore is about 20 mins from the main part, Noosa Heads, and we had to go on a short ferry ride to get to it. It was well worth it though as we the place was so peaceful and lovely (not over-developed like other places we passed through). We stayed in a four-bed ensuite dorm with a kitchen and lounge joined to it, which we shared with one other room. All of the people were really nice. The hostel had 50 acres of land with horses, a lake, two pools, tennis courts, barbeques etc. There was so much wildlife - especially birds. The kangaroos were right outside our door in the evenings. One of the kangaroos had a little joey in her pouch and he kept popping his head out. We though the baby would be really small but when it jumped out it was huge (about half her height!). No wonder her pouch looked so big! We stayed near to a beach which we were told is 42km long-it reaches as far as the eye

The view towards Noosa Heads from the beach at North Shore. The beach here was enormous and went for miles in the other direction.
can see. There was also a lake nearby where we went kayaking. There weren't any crocs as it's not hot enough for them (although we were told that there are sometimes Bull sharks in the river!).

We went into Noosa Heads a couple of times. The people in Noosa like to keep fit-there's even exercise equipment built in along the sea front-so you can be doing chest presses or leg curls whilst watching the boats go past or people fishing! The national park there was very nice with lots of lovely beaches along the never0ending tracks.

We walked so much in Noosa-luckily we are recovering now in the rural village of Widgee!

This spider was only the size of a 50p but still caught our eye. Close-up you can see why.

Noosa National Park. So called because the water overflows the rock with the swell of the ocean.
