Staying in Byron Bay on the weekend and seems like many others have the same idea. The majority are here for the surf. On route, we bipassed macadamia nut and banana plantations, a sugar refinery, plus overpassed many expansive rivers. The vibe is very upbeat and the downtown backs onto the beautiful beach. Staying in a little cabin allows for sitting out in the evening. Curious night herons and wild turkeys prance close by.

Onwards to Noosa Heads where you drive on Steve Irwin Way, and there are trips to Bindi Island. Arriving in the city, it is packed with Aussie's on Easter holidays. The traffic circles are one big traffic jam. Vehicles take a ferry across to the opposite side of the beach where they can do 4 wheel driving on the sand.

The next day, 75% of the vacationers have left, and the city is totally different. A sunny day with a stroll beside the river all the way to the marina. There are small bunches of white parrots perched above.
