Noosa was only a short 2 hour journey from Brisbane which was nice as we were plonked on a big coach again rather than the small personal buses that were advertised so once again oz experience was pleasing no one! Noosa was a really nice place and i would have liked to spend a bit longer there to do a canoe safari up Noosa river, but because of time difficulties courtesy of oz experience i could only stay 3 nights. The day i arrived me and Rob just headed down to the beach to chill out for the afternoon. Nothing too exciting but having worked out my funds i realised i needed to start getting real with my budget, too many beers and other such alcoholic delights has not been helping my bank balance. Consequently evenings in Noosa were very dull! The hostel wasn't the best to be honest, the kitchen was tiny and there were queues to use it when i wanted to cook, i say cook, by that i mean use the microwave to heat up my jacket potatoes and beans. :-) They also forced everyone into the bar at about 7 or 8 if you wanted to
socialise cos there were no lights outside. This would have been fine if we could afford to drink, but as i said before we couldn't! The last night we spent there was pretty funny as it was karaoke and its always fun to laugh at others and this was a prime opportunity. Everyone that sang was SHIT, so pretty amusing for a while.
Noosa by day however was a different story, and i really liked it there. We went to the national park and walked the coastal walk which was fantastic and i would have liked to walk the trail that went into the rainforest but alas, flip flops were not appropriate footwear. We saw a couple of lizards along the way which is always cool along with some absolutely stunning views. We walked pretty leisurely and stopped off at a couple of amazing beaches (that were far less busy than the main beach at Noosa which is always a bonus) and had a dip to cool off before continuing on the walk and drying off in a matter of 5 minutes or so. The last beach we stopped at we stuck our things up in the shade and
wandered down to the sea ready to go for a swim, that is, before we noticed the masses of blue bottle jelly fish washed up on the beach. I don't want to 'ham it up' they weren't deadly but a friendly australian happily explained that if they sting you it's really not that bad, and compared it to getting smacked on the thumb with a hammer! Sounds painful enough to me, so the swim was thrown out the window.
The other full day we had in Noosa was spent at Australia Zoo a.k.a Steve Irwins Zoo. I have to say that it wasn't really that amazing. There was a massive stadium in the middle of the zoo that held 5500 people and there was a show there but it was pretty weak to be honest. I think that cos i went to a pretty good zoo in Sydney it was kinda just seeing the same things again apart from this time there were pictures of steve irwin and tributes to him planted all over the zoo. The highlight of the day was watching 2 of the free roaming lizards have a bit of a scrap which went on for
quite a while with a lot of circling round and random pouncing on each other. It was a good fight although unfortunately not to the death, but hey maybe next time.
Like i said before i would have liked a couple more days in Noosa to do another couple of walks through the national park, and also to do a canoe safari, but nevermind, the time i had there was very enjoyable.
I am just going to add a small note on the bottom of this blog for Rainbow Beach where i am currently sitting at a computer in my hostel. Rainbow Beach is empty, there is nothing to do here, and luckily for us because oz experience is such a fantastic hop on hop off service we have to stay here for 2 nights. Me and Rob are counting the hours, most people who stay here go to fraser island, but we are doing that from hervey bay so this has to have been the most pointless stop off of the trip so far. On the plus side the accomodation here is pretty good and is only 7quid a night! And there is a fantastic pie shop
hmmmmm too many pies me thinks
the pies out here are great me and rob between us in the last 3 days have had 11 pies. good stuff. right by us, and yes i did endulge...3 times yesterday. That's some gooooooooood pie.
