Giant drop It's been a while since i put up a blog mainly because i have been really busy...HA who am i kidding i just haven't bothered my arse! Anyways surfers paradise was brilliant so i stayed there for 5 nights. It was very American in that it had high rise buildings right along the beach and the gold coast is apparently the only place in Australia where the council have allowed this. There were a couple of BRILLIANT theme parks we went to, firstly a waterpark which was fantastic and the other was called dreamworld. Dreamworld had the first ride to scare the shit out of me in about 10 years. It was literally just a massive tower that was 120m high (just to put that into perspective i am about 1.8 meters so that is 67 of me standing on top of each other). You get carted to the top and then dropped the ENTIRE way down. Honest to god i have not been as scared as i was at the top of this ride waiting to drop in a very very long time. Especially as it holds you at the top for about 30 seconds so i'm sure you
can imagine the anticipation is HUGE. Naturally after the first time had been done we went on it again and again and again. Although not as scary as the first time the other 3 times still freaked me out a bit. The best ride of the park by far. 4 of us went and one of the guys called Steve had been to New Zealand and done a bungee jump from 134m high!!! So i felt a bit pathetic having just booked my 50m jump in Cairns, but hey im going to queenstown in New Zealand so i will tackle that mammoth jump, and ill also tackle the washing of my boxers after i jump.
Anyway there was also a really amazing tiger show in dreamworld and as you can see from the pics it was pretty impressive!
Me and Rob had an absolutely fantastic night out in surfers paradise on St Patricks day, if not a bit pricey. We went on a club crawl through 6 clubs with 6 free drinks and about 350 people were on it. It was a very good laugh and i can safely say i remember it all including pulling my first aussie!! WOOHOOO!
lunch at the theme park
left to right is rob, steve and ryan. AND she was good looking which is always a bonus. Literally up the east coast so far its just Brits, and a few canadians and scandanavians but no aussies.
The other couple of days we had in surfers were spent chilling out on the beach and saving money due to the fact we had spent SO much money on theme parks and a big night out. I keep randomly bumping into people who i met before including one canadian bloke called Ryan who i'm now going to meet further up the east coast in townsville to go to a full moon party on magnetic island, and then head up to cairns with him to do a dive course.
Oz experience has done my nut in because it is NOT a hop on hop off simple service as it states on the website. It has been so busy i have had to plan my entire trip now so there is NO flexibility. I would have been better off buying a greyhound bus ticket for less money and it would have given me the flexibility i needed! But on the plus side i do get to go to a cattle ranch with
the claaaaaaaaaaaw
just like the ride me and the canal boat crew did at drayton manor park. although the claaaw just makes me think of jim carrey in liar liar. love that man. oz experience and go goat herding!! SWEEET!!
The journey from surfers to Brisbane was a short one but we had a quick stop off to do.......ZORBING!!! This was great fun and only $20 (8 quid!!) Basically for those who don't know what it is you get into a big ball inside of a bigger ball and roll down a hill. The way we did it was we had 3 people thrown into each ball and a shit load of water and we weren't strapped in so it's safe to say we were much closer by the end of the experience!!
After i had been in the ball something else was offered and completely FREE. It was too good to miss, what was it you ask? I lay down on the grass and got run over by the ball!! Unfortunately for me i lay in the worst place and it ended up going over my HEAD! but do not fear i was okay! It was a strange thing to do but it seemed like a good idea at the time, and as a traveller anything thats offered for free you do!
Right well im gonna stick a little bit on
scary ride
this ran up the side of the tower you get dropped 120m from, basically you got fired up the side of the tower and then fell backwards back down it. Wasn't as scary as i had expected but still a good ride. the end here about Brisbane as well, cos im here at the moment but im only staying 2 nights so there isn't much to say. We got in late yesterday had a great night in the hostel bar with karaoke and then i had THE worst hangover of my life! Up to now i havent't really had a headache after a night of drinking and we have had some big ones, the worst ive had was a bit of a dodgy stomach. It seems they have been saving up cos i felt like absolute SHIT this morning and didn't feel i could get out of bed until 3.30pm. Also i slept walked in the middle of the night apparently and this scottish guy in the room told me that i tried to get into his bed with him!!! Thats great stuff. Luckily he was a good bloke about it, although i think he thought i was just really drunk.
Brisbane seems nice and its a shame i can't spend a couple more nights here but cos oz experience are lying unflexible bastards i have to move on! I got a new phone for australia as well so my number is
rollercoaster
we went on this first and were a bit disappointed to be honest it was a bit weak. now 0420845556 i dont know what the code is to call oz from england so you will have to work that out yourselves.
Next stop is Noosa, apparently its like a more chilled out version of Byron Bay so i have 3 nights there to hopefully try and do a bit more surfing, and not spend any money!!!
