Laura and i have split up- boo hoo and have now gone our separate ways. She's off to find work in Sydney and i'm going to party on down the east coast for a few weeks and generally be a travelling bum.

On my way down on the greyhound bus i met Lizzie, a 20 year old nurse from Cheshire and we booked a white water rafting day on the Tully River which has Grade 4 Rapids. Grade 4 is pretty scary rapids!!

Met sisters Amy & Lauren and turns out they're also doing the rafting day so had dinner with them and chatted about how scary it would be. Also on our raft was Ryan, an incredibly enthusiastic canadian and Owen, a very weird Kiwi bloke who couldn't be bothered paddling most of the time!

I was so nervous about it and had such butterflies all the way there in the coach but a soon as we started paddling i was absolutely loving it and laughing/screaming my head off. Amy and Lauren really wanted to buy the dvd of the rafting experience so our instructor Elias told us we had to do really funny stuff to get

Before the adventure
on it. the girls mooned at the camera (still with bikini bottoms) and we took our bikini tops off and swung them round our heads whilst going down the rapids (don't worry mum - i had a t-shirt and lifejacket on!)

Elias kept on trying to push us out the dinghy when we were on the calm parts which was hilarious. We got to one of the huge drop rapids called the Double D cup and all the instructors set it up so that everyone fell out the dinghy - will hopefully get some good pictures from the girls as they paid a fortune to buy the dvd and photo package and then i can post them online here.

After our rafting we headed to Townsville - i had heard loads of bad things about it - people were calling it Brownsville etc so i was pleasantly surprised when i got there. it doesn't really have that much to do however except diving, which i can't afford to do more of at the moment, so we didn't stick around for long and caught the ferry to Magnetic Island. Maggie Island is complete paradise with fantastic beaches and nightlife

Pole Dancing!!
and quite a few daytime activities.

Lizzie, myself and a German girl called Julie hired a topless car to explore the island - there's only about 12km of proper roads! WE went to the koala sanctuary and had a cuddle with a koala, held a baby crocodile and snakes, lizards and then went on a bush walk and saw hundreds of butterflies and australian birds.

Also got some more German friends - Laura and Matthias were a great laugh and we were dancing to cheesy music for a good few hours and listening to bad karaoke! PLus we have a new Italian friend - Ivan, who is hilarious.

Next on the travels was Airlie Beach - know mostly for being the gateway to the whitsunday island and everyone goes on sailing trips,
