G'day guys,
Hope you are you keeping well and working very hard!! especially all you peeps in the paper and inks industry (lol)
Its been a hard life here trying to get used to doing 'nothing' all day then trying to find out which tours i wanna do and what i don't wanna do... decisions decisions! I'm sure i'll cope somehow!
I know your all dying to know what i've been up to so here goes... arrived in Cairns on 16th bright and early in the morning our flight went really well considering it took way over 24 hours to get here, but have managed to over come the jet lag - i don't think i suffered with jet lag to be fair - i reckon it was just another excuse to get some more Zzzzz!! (sleepy jo!!)
We booked ourselves into Caravella 149 for 5 nights which was a cool hostel - everyone was sooo friendly!!! we had a free meal voucher which ment we had to head to the Woolshed to grab our free food - and y'know it would have been a crime not to have a drink there too!!
I'm sooo chuffed
Cairns
BBQ along the esplanade in the poring rain! and thrilled that i completed my first dive on the Great Barrier Reef - was amazing, so nice to do a dive in the warm open waters and not in the freezing cold Leicester Quarry!!! managed to get 2 dives in one on Saxons Reef and the other on Hastings reef was great fun!! def will be doing more diving over here - thats for sure!
Staying in Cairns for 5 night was cool but it is just wayyy too relaxed and i needed to head of to do some adventure stuff, so we all got our heads together and decided to hire a people carrier to which we named 'Sheila' she was great - so reliable, we drove her to Cape Tribualtion in the rain forest where we stopped off at Port Douglas and Mossman Gorge en-route. Cape tribulation was nice and chilled and it just had the right feel about it the downfall of staying in the rain forest was sharing your shower with natures bugs!!! i jumped outta my skin when one landed on me whilst showering... never want that to happen again! we stayed in Cape Trib for 3 nights which was heaps of time
Cairns
BBQ along the esplanade in the pouring rain! - i was soo ready to get away from those bugs!
After Cape Trib we moved onto Yungaburra to a hostel named ' On The Wallaby' the staff there were soo cool and the actual hostel itself was like home from home... log fire / power showers/ duvet covers... was lush, you don't realise these things are actually luxury extras at home!! on the day of arriving in Yungaburra we booked a night canoe trip which all sounded fun at the time.. but once we were in the canoe it was f*cking scary... imagine this in the pitch black - jumping fishes / bats / birds/ tree kangeroos and possible crocodiles all around and in the lake... then after canoeing for approx 8km my canoe sprung a leak!! about 6 inches of water in the canoe... Our tour guide matt wanted us to trek about 18km back to our van through the Jungle - where snakes / hugh spiders and all the other scary creatures you read about!! but thankfully we bumped into a 'local' ozzy guy wearing no shoes and had the worst mullet in the world - wbut he was our knight in shining armour!! he lent
Cairns
Caravella 149 us a canoe to ride back in... which later we found out ALSO had a leak!!! thankfully we made it back just about in one piece!!!
We were sad to leave Yungaburra to have to come back to Cairns but en-route back to Cairns we stopped off to see the hugh waterfull where the Timotei advert was made.. the water was stone cold - there was no way i was getting into that - so i viewed the lovely site from a distant!! now we're back in Cairns for one night staying in a different hostel... right by our bus stop as we're catching the bus at 7am to take us to Mission Beach....
Hope you guys and girls aren't bored with the above .... but i've had to rush type as the internet cafe over here are mega exspensive!! and every dollar adds up when your counting your pennies 😊
Hope everyone is keeping well - leave me feed back!!!!
I will add photo's once i find somewhere with card readers to upload my pics!!!
P.s... my ozzy tan is coming along just fineeee!!! 😊
