I met Anna and Kylie on Manta Ray in Fiji and kept in contact with them, when i got back to Cairns i went for drinks at Anna's house in Cairns which is gorgeous and i said to her if any rooms come up in the house then to let me know and.............a few weeks later she txt me to say that the small room in the house was going to be avavilable in a few weeks, this was when i was still on the pawpaw farm, i decided to say yes to the room because i wanted to live in the house as it is soooo nice and i knew i wouldn't want to stay at the farm for the full 3 months so by about 6 weeks i could move into the house.
So I let Anna know i would def want the room and gave her the deposit and one months rent to confirm it.
After 6 weeks at the farm i was ready to move into a big nice luxurious house and get away from living in a shed and working 50 hours a week. So on Wed 12th March i got the bus from
the farm all the way to Cairns and moved into my new home..............
Spent the first week getting used to living there, did a load of food shopping and bought myself soem treats after 6 weeks nonstop working i deserved it also saved a load of money in the bank, got to know everyone in the house 10 of us altogether living there at the mo and then started job hunting. Unfortunately it rained nonstop for about 5 days which was quite disheartening real heavy rainy season rain which was quite annoying but it stopped after about 5 days and the weather cleared up to be beautiful sunny cairns weather again.
After a week of job hunting i was also becoming quite disheartened........my main aim was to get a job on a dive boat as a hostess, there are lots of companies in cairns so i should have been able to find a job easily i thought, but the 3 main companies all said no jobs, just taken people on, worng time of season, we don't have hostesses or our hostesses are only volunteers not paid, found a couple of adverts for jobs on boats but when phoned
up they'd either been taken or nearly taken, so was starting to give up on the idea of working on a boat and started lookign for office work or bar/waitressing work etc. Also i was really keen to become a lifeguard at the lagoon so i spoke to the lifeguards and they were pretty sure they were aking people on and trainign them in a weeks time but turns out they'd got it wrong they'd already fitness tested people and the weeks course had just started so id also just missed out on that, but they're running another course in July so hopefully going to put my name down to do that. Also realyl wanted to work for a sky diving company as thought that would be fun and may get a few free jumps foun a company where one of the girls was goign to be leavign soon so they said they'd contact me when she leaves so may still get offered that.
But on Mon 17th March St Patricks day was getting ready to go to work at the Fig the irish hotel/bar/restaurant over the road where others from the house work and i got a call
from Tusa dive comapny, one of the biggest n best companies in Cairns, a hostess job had suddenly coem up on the Spirit of Freedom!!!!!! I handed my CV into them on the Thursday and they said no jobs at mo but we'll let you know if anything comes up and i thought i'd never hear from them but that weekend one of the hostesses quite. Turns out anyway Kylie who i met in Fiji and who came and worked on the farm with me used to worked for SOF as a hostess and her boyf was the japanese dive instruactor she trained up the hostess tiffany who had quit and who's job i was goign for!!!!!! So had the interview on tues morn at 10am and tues afternoon about 3pm got a call to say id got the job!!!!! Sarah drew from uni was actually round my house cos she's in cairns at mo on her RTW and we'd met up. Couldn't belive i'd actually got and been offered a hostess job on SOF was unbelieveable id given up hope of work on a boat and had now got a job on probably the best boat on the Great
Barrier Reef!!!!!!!!!!!.......................
