Did the sleep in thing today, then got on the road, all 4 of us. We were going to check out the Tablelands in the Atherton area and do a waterfall tour. There are about 10 or 12 falls in different locations so it was going to be an interesting tour. The first set of falls was Barron Falls just outside of Kuranda town. They were easy to find, but you had to see them at a distance. A nice jungle walk is in the area as well. There is a tourist train and cable car system that goes by these falls. Our second stop was at Davies Creek Falls, which required a drive in on some dirt road and then a half km walk. It was worth it. The falls roll down a nice flat rock face. The water flow right now is low to moderate, so the falls are not at peak, but not a trickle either. I can imagine how they look when they are full. There was also a swimming hole up the creek, so checked that out as well. People in these parts love to swim in these holes, the water is usually very warm because the sun is so hot. The avg temp for us when we were here was around 30C, with tons of humidity. Finally, we went to Millaa Millaa falls for a swim. There are 3 falls in this area that are just a few km apart from each other and they have made it a "water fall circuit"...a 3 for 1 deal so to speak. All 3 were very spectacular and worth the visit. Picturesque is another good term to describe them. On our way home, we played a hunch and stopped in a town called Yungaburra to check for some platypus'...no luck, but an interesting stop. That was it, a busy day of driving and listening to water fall, all in some very good heat and sunshine. We are now done with our time in Cairns, a plane will take us to the rock tomorrow, and we will have our training wheels off for the rest of the trip. Looking forward to losing all the clouds 😊
