aug 24 walk on esplanade met brian bird master got offer of bird count at mornington kimberly. four days to get there, ten on the count!?* maybe a bit too much. drove to yorkeys knob yacht club very nice, sticker on car! went to beach, had walk with ian and maureen going prawning. gave sticker and accompanied. she'd had a class where teacher showed sticker and asked for comment! grey-morphed eastern reef egret. back at carpark kitesurfers loving high winds. me too. stuck three or four cars!!! white breasted swallows at yc(lots). sun setting on groyne fishers, music wafts from club. i'm entranced. then later barra dinner special 18.50 was more like a snack, ugh.
aug 25 long walk to river mouth. sunbird, leaden flycatcher, rainbow bee-eaters. met french/irish couple for coffee in carpark. back to cairns. overcast blustery.
