Back on the road!! (English follows, på Norsk version, trykk alt+F4)
http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/tonordmenniaustralia/
So, after a couple of months without giving any news, I'm finally back with some good ones! (but I'm sorry for those of you who don't like mechanics and strawberries...)
I had stopped in this tiny little town called Caboolture to make some money as a strawberry picker, but I hadn't planned that the van would break down, you can see all of this on the previous blog following this link:
http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/tonordmenniaustralia/
It took me two months and a half to fix the van: pulling the engine out, open the engine up, break a pulley, change the pistons, close the engine, start the engine, have a huge oil leak, tighten the bolts, break a bolt, open the engine, change the bolts, close the engine, start the engine, still have the same leak and finally find out that we had forgotten a gasket... Now everything seems to be working, but still I'm not
fully confindent while driving...
So, during these two months and a half stuck at Caboolture, I was staying at Kate and Gabe's, a couple that wants to help backpackers, and that offer really cheap accomodation ($5 per night) at their house for backpackers working around. I therefore had for these two months and a half a real shower, a real kitchen, internet access... But still I was stuck because I could definitely not leave. Lucky me, Gabe knew enough about mechanics to help me fixing my van, since the other possibility was to buy a new one, and I don't have that much money... (after havng experienced the freedom of living in a van, not having one is just not an option anymore).
And it gave me the chance to meet a lot of nice people, go for some small hikes, learn a lot about mechanics... And once the strawberry season finished, to keep making a bit of monet I started busking at a local market on Sundays, and it really worked well! I had to pay $5 for a license to play for two hours, and I would make between 35 and 40$/h
(with a 50 $/h record!)
And now that the van is working again, I'm finally able to keep on with my trip, direction South!
