The City
View of Brisbane from a bridge crossing the river. I have officially completed my first week of school in Australia!! I won’t go on too much about the school part, because basically it’s all the same- go to class, do some readings and assignments and try to stay awake! Since I don’t have any classes on Friday’s, Jocelyn and I decided to take a long weekend trip to Brisbane for the weekend before the assignments start piling in!
Some highlights from my Brisbane trip include South Bank- a beach in the middle of the city, a small shopping spree with many sales, a trip to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and a night out in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane’s most ‘happening’ place! Due to the cooler weather, we didn’t get to actually sunbathe on the beach, but we did enjoy a nice stroll through the markets and listening to the many busker’s on the street. At the koala sanctuary we got our pictures taken holding a koala! They are much heavier then I expected and gripped on very tight! None the less, they are very very cute! There were over 130 Koalas including some babies and some over 14 years old! (Usual life span of 10 to 12 years at
Rainforest
There was a short rainforest walk in the middle of the city. most) Fortitude Valley is a street that is closed off to cars at night and only open for people walking around to the bars. It was crazy busy and there was a line for almost every bar! The bars are open until 5am, making it a very late night out! Overall, an amazing weekend and for only a $6 train ticket I will definitely be going back there again soon!
