Giant Tortoise Monday Said our goodbyes to Fim and headed out of Brissy to the north. On the way out Tag had a relapse and caved to my influence. Thats right she bought a DS 😊 So there we were plodding along up the Bruce Highway, when out of nowhere we see a sign for the Australian Zoo (Steve Irwin's') After a 2 second discussion we decided to go. Quickly we got the map out and looked for the nearest town/city. There it was, Caloundra right on the coast only 15 mins drive away from the zoo. We made our way into the town stopping at the Tourist info on the outskirts to check out accommodation. We were recommended a place called City Backpackers which had a twin room for $46 a night for the room so we get our own privacy for less than most dorm rooms. The guy who owned the place was nice enough but very anal about safety. Not surprising as there was a backpackers in this town that burnt down not 2 years ago. So we settled in and took a walk round the town and down to the sea front. Blah blah blah amazing beach/views etc.

Lizard Dinner then bed.
Tuesday We're going to the zoo zoo zoo, how about you you you?..... a MASSIVE 15 minute drive arriving approx 9am and already right hot. Where to start? so many cool things to talk about. Well we took a look around the reptile pens, no snakes, these were lizards or monitors, they had a komodo dragon, which by the way was HUGE. Just around the corner was a little habitat for sea otters. They have to be the most stupid animal i have ever witnessed. Not sure of the reasoning behind this behavior but one would bound/swim around the habitat at a rate of knots with the other no more than 1 inch behind him. It was like it had its whiskers stuck up the front otters arse. After being mezmarised by this for about 15 minutes we quickly made our way to the Giant Tortoise enclosure as they were doing a presentation. A very over enthusiastic young "dude" came out with his headset on and started telling us some very interesting info about these creatures. For one, up until last year they had one tortoise living there that was discovered in 1870something so it

Crocs Rule! was right old. The ones living there now were around 35 years old. Their shells have nerve endings in them so they can actually feel stuff through it. I'll stop there and move on. We wondered around the croc pens but most must have been under water, don't blame them it was getting very hot by this time. We then stumbled across the main arena of the zoo called the "Crocoseum" which was designed by the legend himself Steve Irwin. We naturally took a seat on the shaded side. The show started off with 3 elephants popping in to see us, nothing too special. Then the action moved into the centre of the Crocoseum. As well as the obvious croc show there were also snakes (yippee) and birds. All very impressive, dude with the croc had a deathwish would of laughed my arse off if he got bitten. But alas no. The showed ended at 12noon so off for some lunch. After, we took the road train to the northern end of the zoo where the elephants and tigers lived. BABY TIGER CUBS awwwwww. I mean.... yeah there were tiger cubs, mainly fighting each other. Few photos and walked over

Elefun to the elephants. They were also about to start a presentation on elephants involving their daily wash. Which was totally pointless cos as soon as they were done they went over to this dirt pile and flicked mud all over themselves. And they say elephants are smart...?!?!? As it turns out the dirt acts as a sunblock for them. Some informative information about ele's, teeth cleaning, elephantastic... but we needed to go as it wasn't long until the BIG tigers were let out. This wasn't nearly as exciting as i expected they just lazed about in the shade. It was getting close to 3pm so we quickly took a look around the tazzy devils and dingoes then shot back to the car. We then took a drive up into the Glass House Mountains to a lookout. Views again..... After a long day it wasn't long before i hit the sack.
Wednesday - Thursday We spent a couple days in Caloundra catching up on our blogs and Tag on her tan.
Friday Off to Noosa as many people we talk to keep bigging it up. This day saw our first motor issue, the Waste Gate on the

Suicidal man turbo ceased and blew off. So most of the day was spent trying to get it fixed. By the end of it we were both irate and hot and every backpackers in the place was fully booked, so as we drove out having given up we see a VACANCY so before anyone else could steal it from us we go in and see what they have to offer. The only thing this place had to offer was a 2 bedroom town house. She must off liked us as she gave us a discount. $290 for 3 nights thats $145 each so for less than $50 a night we get our own house right next to the pool too 😊
Saturday Nearby was a town called Eumundi and on Saturdays they have a really big market and what with it being Saturday we reckoned we should go. Just like your typical market but hotter and more Australian. Got me a wicked spray tattoo of a phoenix, still not sure if i should get a real one just yet. Also got some Joss Sticks. Rest of the day was spent round the the pool area back at the house. We

Croc jump decided to go out in the evening but the taxi let us down so we drank our stash of vodka and watched a film.
Sunday Feeling a little worse for wear Tag wasn't up for much and to be fair neither was I. Swimming in the pool, spot of lunch then off to the Internet cafe to do some bloggery and email stuff.
