Lone pine
Sleeping... thats all they do Monday Got the hell out of tinbillys but left our bags in storage so we could go looking around the city. Walked to the botanical gardens to have breakfast. Then looked through the malls. We stumbled across tourist info centre so went in to find out where the Science Centre was, as our Lonely Planet guide seemed to be wrong. As it was it had moved to the main museum. This was just across the river so we walked over the bridge and headed in. This place was awesome far too many things to explain, but it was all interactive stuff. It had the good ol' perception tunnel (You walk through a rotating cylinder) spun me right out. 3d connect 4 which i won in 5 moves lol :P We then picked our car up followed by our bags then went shopping. Checked into the new hostel Yellow Submarine cooked dinner etc.
Tuesday We thought it would be cool to check out the Lone Pine Sanctuary, which is home to many Koalas and Kangaroos. Had to have our photo taken holding a Koala, awww they are so cute, surprisingly heavy but quite calm seeing as they spend most
of their lives stoned off their tits. The one i held went for me near the end but the keeper managed to stop it in time. (it was female, must be a common feeling throughout the animal kingdom) Feeding Kangaroos now theres something you don't think about doing until the moment arrives. We bought a bag of food and entered the park area. Tag had the first go, very cautiously borderline petrified is the only way i can describe it. So i jumped in and had a go and as long as you follow the feeding guidelines its fine keep your hand flat and low and don't pet them. I was even brave enough to feed the Emu in there, slightly more worrying as they snap at your hand with their massive beak. Had a wonder around the other areas i took one for the team and went in the reptile hut. OH LOOK SNAKES!!!! Laters im off, to be fair i stuck with it can't say i wasn't nervous but as it turned out they were all sleeping and curled up in a coil which i could handle. Went and had lunch but we had done most of the
things there was to do so we headed back.
Wednesday We had got quite friendly with our roomie Fim. So we invited her to join us on going up to Mount Coot-Tha lookout. Some spectacular views of the city and surrounding area from up there but it was a little hazy so we couldn't quite see all the way to the coast. As usual these things don't come without some kind of a walk. 2k to the waterfall via a 1k detour around an aboriginal art trail so we were looking at about 5k and of course we are on a mountain which means lots and lots of hills. Even knowing all this i still did it without even moaning about it. The art trail was........ different, art........ debatable. Found a picnic area so had our lunch. Then kinda got lost as to which direction the water fall was, after realising we had past it we go back to discover there is no water........ brilliant! Walk back was actually really nice im not struggling so much anymore. On the way back down the mountain there was a planetarium time for me to have some fun. The showed a
Me and a Koala
Notice her clawing on to my arm ... owww story of how to be an Astronaut narrated by Ewan Mcgregor. Followed by a look at the sky of Brisbane for the time of year we are in. We leave the auditorium only to lose Fim. After a while we find her and it turns out she had motion sickness and just threw up. hehe! Tag wasn't feeling to ripe either so i carefully drove back to the hostel. On the menu this evening Tag's Mac 'n' Cheese yay! Fim was amazed with it, as was i even though i have had it a million times each one is always superb.
Thursday Tag wanted to go to the National park but i got up late due to a restless non-sleep filled night. So she went by herself and i caught up on some sleep. Fim made dinner that night, i couldn't tell you what it was called but it was lush.
Friday Once again not a massive amount on the cards for stuff to do so we took a trip to the library to get a free hour on the internet, giving me a chance to write stuff up on the blog. We couldn't seem to
upload pics so this is why it has taken a while to get them published.
Saturday Shopping in the centre nothing special but had to have an early night, up at 4am tomorrow to get into the city centre to watch the rugby
Sunday 4am oh how i love the early mornings..... Got to a pub for 4:50 am just in time for the match to start. We also met up with the girls from Tags room in Byron Bay which was nice. As they weren't serving alcohol i had no choice but to drink coffee. During the match i had 3 flat whites (normal coffee) with sugar suffice to say i was high on caffeine. Shame we lost but it was a good game to watch, with an amazing atmosphere. I don't entirely recall the rest of the day but i think it was spent sleeping. Had to pack our bags up as we were leaving on Monday.
