Woke up at 3am and decided to work on the blog. Pottered around all morning until about 7am when I woke Ellie up and got her excited for tonight. We wrapped her up in a quilt, toga style so she could have a cig on the balcony without flashing the neighbors, and then went down to the garden to sunbathe on the trampoline. Mark Owen from Take That has admitted numerous affairs… I mean really - are no men decent?! Of all people, you would have thought innocent Mark Owen would be faithful.
Ellie made me toast, I napped and we both had a go of bouncing as high as possible on the trampoline until it started to rain and I got my leg trapped in the net surrounding it. Ellie found it hilarious that I was dangling from the net, arse in the air, getting soaked while crying for help. We made a playlist on my Youtube account for tonight’s party, then walked to the shop to collect items for the salad - our input to the Lamb Spit Roast this evening.
I’m rapidly losing brain cells and could hardly string a sentence together on our walk to the shop.
Forgetting words, long pauses, or trailing off mid-sentence have all been occurring regularly. Fortunately when I say “I need to find a wotsit”, Ellie seems to be able to guess what I’m talking about and kindly pretends it’s normal.
Chilled for the rest of the afternoon, then after a disagreement on Facebook with someone back home, I decided to hit the wine at 3 in the afternoon. Sod it if I’m blind drunk by the time we go out… at least it will make me feel better right now. Live for the moment I say.
Jessy, Glenn’s other housemate’s girlfriend, came over and joined us on the balcony for some drinks. Glenn’s cousin Tony arrived, then their crazy friend Welshy and soon the balcony was full and we had the tunes blasting. Welshy had brought a crate of homebrew and was handing those out. Although I don’t drink larger, I had a sip and it was really nice.
Welshy ranted about his opinion on people who diet. He said it was bullshit that people eat to refuel their body and that he “was a fat prick but at least he was happy”. Ha, excellent! Jessy is ever so sweet, probably
one of the nicest girls I’ve ever met. Played a game of “Fives” (which if you’ve kept up to date with my blog you should all know exactly what it is by now), and a couple of other drinking games I had never played before.
Welshy took me and Ellie in to the City, and Glenn, Jessy, Tony and Tonys friend went in another car. We had built in walky talkys in each car so had a mad journey passing messages between the two vehicles. Tony stole my camera and took a few silly photos of what they got up to. We went to The Stock Exchange, a big bar and club in the city centre, and went straight up to the top balcony bar to get drinks. Josh, a guy me and Ellie met in Phuket, rang us and came to meet us for a drink. We arranged to meet with him again tomorrow for a tour around Brisbane as he lives here.
Mr Hot Canadian (who I’d met in Cairns) rang and was waiting for us all downstairs. Danced a bit on the dancefloor then we all walked the The Vally, apparently the heart and soul of Brisbane’s
nightlife and took silly group photos on the arty farty statues along the way. There were girls passing out on the streets and people vomiting in the gutters… just like back home. We paid $15 to get in to a club but it nearly kicked off on the balcony (Ellie, Glenn & Mr HC right in the middle) so we didn’t stay long… instead piling in to a minibus and carrying on the party back at Glenn’s.
