Monday

Spent the day looking round the shops and the malls had a shake 😊 also decided it would be a good idea to buy our stash of food and water for the trip ahead as well as clean out the car as there was a slight ant infestation.

Tuesday

Took the car to the garage for its service at 8am and walked into town. Spent most of the morning on the internet doing blog etc. Picked the car up at 2pm and started our journey to the west. We had to head over the mountain range towards Atherton. Try and picture mountain roads in the alps minus the snow.. yeah we had to drive that. Cliff edge roads hairpin bends, good stuff. We arrived in a town called Yungaburra planning on staying at a hostel called "On The Wallaby" This was recommended to us by Jane if you remember her from Myella. Our plan was to do some activities such as Kayaking, swimming, cycling, walking etc. As it turns out these things are $25 for each thing. So we talked about it and decided the 12km bike ride would be the best start and if we felt

like it could do the kayaking in the afternoon.

Wednesday

Bright and early, it's becoming almost too easy now. Left for our bike ride at 9am firstly went to the Curtain Fig Tree just down the road. Our guide was a French girl who worked at the hostel. After that we went to a roadhouse to pick up our bikes. From there we had a 2.5k ride to Lake Eacham where we will de doing a 9km'ish ride around the national park apart from saddle sore i thought i did a ruddy good job of it. Both of agreed that maybe $25 to have a bike ride was a little steep so we passed on the kayaking and just chilled out and rested our bums. We both agreed that for the next few days we would need to be up early so get a few hundred k's under our belt before the sun gets too hot, so we leave at 8am.

Thursday

First stop on this 4300km trek, Normington about 650km west. Arrived and got us a shabby little hole to sleep in. They did have a full sized swimming pool there though, although it was

warm. Thunder storm during the night kept us awake for a while.

Friday

Not such a long jump today arrived in Mount Isa by lunchtime. Tag had acquired what she thought was an ear infection so she went to see a doctor. It was indeed an ear infection so she is now on drugs for that. That night Tag didn't sleep at all this hostel we stayed at was more of a cheap accommodation for people who are working in the mines nearby and being a Friday night... well im sure you can work it out.

Saturday

Having no sleep Tag only managed about 2 hours driving, i totally understood and took over. This was a fairly big jump to Tennant creek around about 685km. We arrived and found ourselves a motel room for the night in a nice quiet place so Tag could get a good nights sleep. Although our trip tomorrow is only 500km she was running out of juice. The motel had a restaurant so we treated ourselves seeing as we haven't really done so in a while. Was really nice other than they repeated the same song over and over the whole

time we were there.

Sunday

Only 500km to Alice Springs and we would be just over halfway round our trip. Arrived dead on 1pm and headed for a hostel called Annies, which had been recommended to us by a couple of Canadian people staying next to us at the dive in Norminton, everything happens for a reason they say. This place does Organised tours to Kings Canyon, The Ulgas and Ayers Rock, so it all made sense to stay. Booked onto a Tuesday departure 3 day 2 night.
