Okey Dokey… After a wicked night at Daly Waters we all got up and chilled out for the better part of the morning and early afternoon before making a further2 hour trip to an Area of Kakadu National Park called Gunlom Falls. Now knowing Jacqui a little better I wasn’t feeling so shy with my subjects of conversation so all of us laughing our arses off the trip to the falls went by quickly.
Arriving again late in the day after little stops along route for munch and drinks we rocked up at the Gate to southern Kakadu where we all got a shot with the van and the opening to the park. (Jacqui I need them pics girly you have the good ones) after taking the shot we ploughed into the road network of this wonderland. Risking the unsealed roads the journey within the gates took a little longer as the van was sliding everywhere never the less made the experience fun so sliding a having to cross creeks was a real challenge. However all successful we got to the camp site fine and arriving at the foot of the
fall was a great beginning to my time there. Before even setting up we decided to take a walk up the 500 metre walk/climb to an area that took my breath away. Forever looking back the view was amazing and with the sun soon to set I couldn’t wait to get a few savoury pics! At the top of the main fall was a series of rock pools and creek lines with a few other much smaller but impressive water falls adjoining them. The pools were dark and eerie so straight in we went diving from lower rocks, swimming the channel ways and exploring the caves. Tomorrow we plan to come back up for the entire day to spend time here in the sun shine. After an hour or two of swimming we got our selves up and over to a view point where the sun was going down slowly which added to a wicked end to our day. Good Call Jacqui you did us boys proud with this trip.
Getting back down the steep winding path before dark we went in search of a plot setting up camp before looking for fire wood that would assist us in
cooking the Roo that I couldn’t wait for after the last trip we made in the Nomad. All set up with the tents Jacqui again claiming the Van (im gonna get the van on the next trip I swear) the fire was ago, the beers were cracked and Shannon Noll (Robert) gave us a few little numbers on his Guitar. The night was a well chilled out time and made a great last night to the trip. Food eaten and the beers drunk, the fire slowly burnt out and the night came to an end.
The following morning we woke to find out that the van was not as comfy as we had given Jacqui grief for. She was boiling hot with no breeze and on opening the doors for some air she was forever dodging mozzies hahaha thank god I was in my Mozzie Tent hahaha. Rob went for his morning Run and I hung around camp tidying up our mess and getting things together for the guys to return for our climb to the pools for a day of relaxing! All day we spent swimming, diving and exploring finding a cliff jump that rob made look easy.
I sat on top of that cliff for ages but in the end made the jump that I was so scared to do… shit it was high hahaha. Poor Jacqui sat at the foot of the cliff waiting to get a picture of me doing it but jumping without alerting her made me loose out on the shot of my athletic attempt.
After a generally chilled out morning and early afternoon we had plans that evening to meet with some guys from Melville in Darwin so the inevitable trip home was to be made. Not seeming to take that long we were home in no time for plenty of beers and a wicked night in town! Man then Yager bombs reck my head.
Saturday the 26th had arrived and today was the big one in Darwin, BASS IN THE GRASS kicking off at about 11am the bands were not worth looking at but at 2pm Hill top hoods were on so that was the target. Before hand we all went down to this Irish bar called Kitty’s where we got on the lagers before out trip down to the crowds. Hill top Hoods were awesome, id never heard
them before though after they finished the bands worth seeing weren’t scheduled until late afternoon. What could we do to fill the gap?? I know…… go smash a few golf balls. Down to the Golf range we went where the deal was if you hire a bucket of balls and a club you can drink so that I did and smashed I didn’t! I couldn’t hit a ball to save my life. It was a good laugh though seeing a few of us belting them miles and Jacqui lobbing the club into the lake on her swing hahaha well done girl. At 5pm we all moseyed back to the bash to Catch Mr Noll’s playing hahaha Rob just loves the bloke. After the pop idol got off stage the real gig began sporting the likes of Jet, Eskimo Joe and many more. I never stopped jumping about all evening… the crowds were immense and the night went off wicked. Meeting many cool people along the way our plans went well into the night getting home for showers and back out into town. This break had been the best yet….. This is what Darwin needs.
On the Sunday Morning I
swore that id never touch another beer but on Rob and Jacqui’s prompt I was out that evening for Dinner and a beer down at the Cav before retarding to my bed earlyish for work the following morning.
I hope everybody at home is still enjoying the read if not just the pics.. Sorry for the gaps in my bloggs, I’m just working more, than visiting nice places. Kieran get in touch mate hope your ok!
Love to you all at home, miss you all so much cant wait to see you all again.
Love from a Brummy
