Boat day
Ok where have we been since the last time I spoke to all of you fans??? Erm…. Ah well the last time I spoke with you I mentioned that a big drinking session had led to me hurting myself and do some damage I did! I proper ballsed up my leg and found out I have been carrying a blood clot in my right calf. The treatment?!!?!??..... A needle a day for 100 days…. Quite ironic after the centurions challenge don’t you think!
Ok so obviously work was to take a back seat in order for me to get better again! So I called in to alert the gang of my position and was on doctor’s orders to take 3 months off!! Pish ill take two weeks!! So on the Monday morning Brett got up for work leaving me in the house to which I woke up finding out how boring it actually is in Darwin not knowing anybody here that is.
So for a whole week I sat on the sofa… cooked a bit in-between the neighbours delightful Thai treats and wobbled to the video store daily to rent yet another
5 DVD’s! I’m now clued up on all media on offer to us!!
Sitting around Darwin with not a lot to do gave me time to think about all sorts of rubbish but to my delight Rob called me from work telling me of a friend of his that would arrive in Darwin the day before the gang were due back from Melville island so it was my job to entertain the big fella for the days in waiting!! Early hours of Tuesday the 3rd of July Luke arrived from Melbourne and he was to set the tone for the next few days before heading back to work!! We would drink more than I can handle and eat more than I can stomach! Wednesday morning the fun and games began!!
I woke wanting my now routined Cup of tea and three or four hours on the settee but Lukus had other plans!! He’s twice the size of most people and he wanted breakfast!! So up I got… wobble I did and a good 10 minutes walk later I was in a bar eating fry up at 10am. By 11 there was a scooner in my hand and by
in the water
watch out for the croc 4pm I was swimming pissed up in the Cav pool!! What a good start to the day!! My leg was killing me. Chris from work turned up shortly after so his sober state put us all back at the beginning again!! Tequila here, Jager bomb there…. Ahh I’m proper gone! By the end of the night Rob had got back from Melville I was trashed and we all ended up in Discovery nightclub disco-techno-ing it to the greatest of tunes not allowed on the radio for complete cheese quality.
The next morning I was pleased to hear that Rob had plans for the lump and he was to be away from town camping which thankfully gave me a break!! Myself and Brett (now back from work) wondered slowly into town for a catch up and ran into a few guys and there friends from work in the Cav! I spent all day avoiding the piss but meeting some wicked people! Big hello to Kat and Elizer who turned out to be a cracking pair of girls who we met through Flem from Melville research. They were passing through Darwin on there way to the east coast from the west
Coast in a mad, short, to many driving miles trip. I was lucky to spend the next couple of days with those guys listening to a great set of live music and spending a good few hours being amazed at travel stories From young Kat!! Girls it was a pleasure!! (‘Who the Bloody hell are we????’)
Ok so Saturday came…. Ahh pish here we go! Transformers is on at the cinema and it was finally time to get our arses out of the pubs to see it!! What a movie!! Myself, Rob Nicky Mitchell and Luke all traipsed down to the cinema passing all of the bars and being really good!! Until it finished… I could feel it happening deep inside of me…. Since the middle of the film… the unsuspecting Robba Dance… (robot Bop for the likes of anybody else) the last time I felt this way was at the showing of Spiderman 3 and before that Bass in the Grass! I was on it!
So the next morning I had officially retired… I was not going anywhere…. The knocks on the door could not shift me!! I wasn’t playing…. Nope soiree!!! Then Brett got up and shouted
to us all we would be going out on his girlfriend’s boat for the day and who was I to turn down such an adventure….. Up I got…. Subway we went… the bottle shop we stopped and on the boat we were for 12pm. Marvellous!
I have to say it was strange being in the water again… Darwin’s waters are riddled with all sorts of deadly things including Crocs and sharks but as the stingers were no longer in season all care went out of our minds!! We were out on a 30ft Yacht, Diving, Swimming, Drinking…. The day was one of my better Days in Australia!! Thank you Megan! You’re a star!! The day came to an end though and we would inevitably have to get the tinny back into shore…. But this would not stop us… I mean Luke Lad won’t stop!! Food he needed and drink he would get… we were out again…. Eating Chinese food and dancing our hearts out to the tunes of the Vic!! This night was tops…. Terra the Canadian came out and with her and Nicky being nuts the dancing didn’t stop. My leg was now fully stretched and the pain
was no where near as bad. God I’m glad the Guys are back in town! Cheers for the Constant Jiving Terra you mad head…. Can’t wait for you to get back from Canada!!
On the final Sunday before returning to work we hit Mindil Markets for food and just chilled out about the place catching up with Luke before we left him in Darwin alone and to head back to Melville!! I can’t actually wait to get back to work and do something with myself other than sit on my ass!!
Sorry for the delay in posting this I’ve just been busy making my money back from the time off and the mad week included in this story!!
I love you all at home and miss you kids terribly!! I Hope you are still reading!
Niki
Love from a Brummy in Australia!
