After I returned from my expeditions in the south, Hannah met me at the airport in sunny Darwin! Cor' Blimy, it was a little hotter than Brisbane! Way up in the 40s! We both stayed in a nice little caravan park not too far from the beach and attempted to chill with the use of Hannah's newly acquired fan, sweeeeet!! We moved on from Darwin at great speed to find ourselves in Litchfield National Park. Nice little place and the water falls actually had water in them rather than the usual bare rocks we were used to seeing. The falls were really quite spectacular (well one out of the four was!!), both Hannah and I took the plunge to cool off, which worked a treat! A must see by all standards, but probably far better at the end of the wet season!!
We decided to give Kakadu National Park a miss due to the lack of rain and figured we wouldn't be missing that much?! So we motored on to Katherine Gorge as recommended by Hannah (I had a quick look when I finished working and John was still having fun jumping out of planes) on her first visit and
Big termites!
Nice pose Hannah!had a play with a two person canoe up the gorge, of course John had to pick the least stable canoe for us to use. Nice water although a little apprehensive about the fresh water crocodiles, that are in the water. We were advised that they don't eat people, but with Hannah's record of accidents, you never know!! All was well and good and we returned to safety of our little camper with slightly tired arms... It was a pretty good workout, even for melon pickers!!
