Ngukurr friends and family

Jasper is becoming part of the fabric of Ngukurr life. He rides the roads with kids calling his name or yelling' What's your name?' to which he calls back many times 'Jasper!'. He has made friends with the kids next door and the policemens' children up on the ridge. His bike is his favourite mode of travel and will often badger us to ride up to the store to get some milk or other stores.
He is also spending long days at his 'school room' at home doing the wide range of tasks set for him by SIDE or his mum.
The beauty of the place is not lost on him either with dawns and sunsets being the highlights. So far we haven't been able to venture too far from home as the raods aren't kind to the bus and tend to rattle some shelf or fitting loose with each excursion. Hopefully this weekend we'll be able to hitch a ride with someone with a 4wd to some of the spots currently inaccesible to us at present. there are so many enriching locations ,full of plant and birdlife and maybe we can even get to a swimming place which doesn't have crocodiles.

Good to get your blog.Whats in the garden Kev?not much by the look of it. Watch out for the Crocs, Jasper. Bianca, I've nearly finished the Girl Who Played with Fire. Found it easier to read than the first one, probably more familiar with the characters and the Swedish names. Hojo has almost finished translating North to Matsumae and has applied for a grant for publishing it in Japan. I thought he had given up the idea. Love to you all
