Adelaide to Sydney

An early call @ 5.30am, a quick breakfast and then off to the airport. Janette & Paul dropped us off at the Hug/Drop point in good of time for our flight. We were offered free exit door seats at check-in and then found ourselves a coffee shop dispensing particularly strong coffee!! The Virgin plane was newish, on time and the adjacent seat to us was empty - excellent!!

We took a taxi from the airport, Kate translating our driver's enthusiastic 10 words/second conversation for me, getting to the hotel just after midday. In the afternoon we explored the local area - a real mixture of up market chic (Rushcutters Bay) and the more risquee Kings Cross. In the evening Norm (ex-Tennis Club) joined us for a meal in our hotel.

Sydney (Nov 2)

We took an early breakfast @ a cafe next to the hotel - I drooled over Kate's toasted banana/walnut cake - and then met Norm for a spot of sightseeing

• Circular Quay/Sydney Harbour & Bridge
• Sydney Opera House
• Botanical Gardens & Government House
• Manley (to/from by ferry) incl. surfers and beach volleyball
• Norm's Casino (via Light Rail)

Got back shattered to hotel @ 6pm. After a quick power nap, we enjoyed a lovely pizza with rocket/pear salad at the local Pizza cafe, finished off with a glass of wine in our hotel bar

Kate's Thoughts

It was a lovely day- warm but with a cooling breeze. The views were spectacular and it is great to be near the sea, I paddled in the Pacific at Manley and laughed at the poor souls having surfing lessons! While John watched Beach Volley Ball

I have never seen anything like the huge casino, which was extremely opulent and full of people( mainly Chinese) gambling at 4.00 on a Friday afternoon

Transport here is superb in one day we have used the ferry, train and light railway(tram)All using the same Multitrain ticket which allows hopping on and off as often as you like. I guess we will make good use of it during our time here.

We like the atmosphere in Sydney and again find everyone helpful and Cheery.
