The day after I last wrote we took a boat over to Fraser Island to spend a couple of days with the dingoes, sharks, portuguese man-o-war and ENORMOUS poisonous spiders. I made friends with another arachnaphobe (who turned out to be an actress from Grange Hill) and we screamed our way around the beautiful island together. She then conviced us to go to Noosa, where we spent a couple of days looking (unsuccessfully) for Koalas - but the shops were great.

Karl's aunt and uncle, Larysa & Colin very kindly put us up in their gorgeous apartment in Kangaroo Point, Brisbane and thoroughly spoiled us. Big thanks to both of you.

This morning I solved my Koala cravings at the sanctuary in Bris. In fact we saw and fed most of the native Oz animals including kangaroos, wallabies and a taz devil. Mum - I wish you could have seen the bats! Ugh!

We are now in Byron Bay and Karl has just booked a surf lesson for tomorrow morning so he'll be going steady on the Tooheys tonight at Cheeky Monkeys.

Cuddly Toy Koalas
Was the camera shake due to Karl laughing so much because it was a toy koala? - Peter Donovan

Hi Emma and Karl, Glad to see you took my advice about wearing a long sleeved top! The koala's sooooo cute! Was it heavy to hold? Could you feel its sharp claws? Did you feed it? Hope you're both well, look forward to hearing from you again soon, Sxx - Sarah
