Sometimes a number of things happen at the same time and you end up writing a blog about your city.
Actually this blog is going to be more about these "things" than about my city. I think the whole point is to show you some pics of Girona.... maybe?
So... here ya go:
- I'm in Australia, far away from home and going to winter while in Girona the streets are full of flowers (look at my previous blog if interested) and everybody is enjoying their first ice-cream on a terrace in la Rambla. Spring is there, in the air, in their bodies, feeling their hormones going up and down (as they should!) and looking forward to going to summer! If I didn't have facebook (as used to be the case not long ago) I wouldn't be aware about all these things... It's amazing how well this social net works!
- A month ago I met Bob in Sydney. He told me he was going to Spain in a few weeks. I offered to put him in contact with some of my friends. It's always good to have someone who walks with you while you are checking
out the city and who tells you where the good "tapas" are. So I did. So he is there now and he keeps sending pictures to me of Barcelona and himself with my friends (the same ones I miss so much, you know??). But, not only this! Guess what?? I ended up talking with Bob about my hometown (Girona) and how beautiful, nice and special it is. So... can you see it already?? Bob went there and he sent me some pics of Girona. I'm glad to see that it is still there, as gorgerous as I remember it! Thanks for the pics Bob!
- I arrived in Australia 2 months ago so I already have some friends. Robby is a good friend! She and her partner are planning a trip to Europe. They are going to France (as well as other places). Girona is pretty close to France, right?? So... I started talking about Girona with her: "it's a beautiful city with an old Roman part; I have a house near there; my house is empty at the moment; it's a pretty big house, and did I tell you that I have a car there too?; it's just
45 minutes from the Dali Museum.....". So, I invited them to stay at my place if they want to go to Spain. I hope they'll do it! And then I thought I might show them some pics of the city and here we go, I have this new blog!
- My parents went to Girona (they live next to my house about 15 mins drive from there) to visit the Flower Festival and have a nice walk around this beautiful city. He sent me a folder full of pictures. He said "Are you coming back or not? If the answer is 'not yet' then can you show these Aussies what they are missing here?"
- Oh and I nearly forgot about the icing on the cake! I invited Carla and all her family (husband, son, and parents) to come to Australia in August to visit me instead of her parents visitng them in New York (where they live) again (and again!). Robby will be in Spain right? So her house here will be empty and available! I said to Carla "I have a house for the whole family and you can stay as long as you like." Do
you think anybody could refuse such an offer? The answer is YES: they are now going to Girona instead of the parents going to New York!
Do you feel like there might be something special about Girona yet?
