Hello again! We are still in Australia! We got to stay an extra 7 sleeps because Mummy had an ouchie and had to go to the hospital. She's OK and it's not been too terrible having extra holiday time. So, as I mentioned before there are mountains near Sydney called Blue Mountains, because when you stand near the top and look across a sea of trees the leaves look kind of bluey. We drove up a highway that went right into the middle of the mountains, and trekked through a forest to see a giant waterfall. I loved climbing on the rocks; Mummy said the views were amazing but I'm not too fussed with views. I tried to count the trees though, and got to 27 then got bored. We also found 2 cable cars in the mountains, and a train that goes straight down a cliff! It's the steepest train in the world, it went straight off the top of the mountain and into he deep dark wood! Mummy and Claire were scared, but I looked after them by putting my hands over their eyes like with the sharks in the aquarium. It's brilliant here that you can be in
a big city, on the beach and up a mountain on the same day. I told Mummy I want to live here with my friend Owen, but she and Daddy can live with us too if they like (thanks, ed.).
We hadn't had a barbecue yet in Australia, so when we got down off the mountain we went to Auntie Freya and Adam's and had a delicious lamb leg barbecue and yummy apple crumble. We stayed up really really late, I'm not allowed to say how late as it was naughty (11 O'clock). The day after we came back from the mountains, Mummy and I borrowed Auntie Freya's car and went CAMPING yes CAMPING!!! .... Mummy has been promising this for ever and ever. We drove up the coast to a place called Umina Beach and slept in a big tent with beds and a bathroom in it! It wasn't much like the tent Daddy Pig put up in Peppa. I met possums and bush turkeys and fed a parakeet by our tent, and we could walk to a huge big beach with big waves, and play and watch surfers. We had fish and chips for dinner and the birds
tried to steal all the food - I scared them away. I was a bit worried when it got dark, but in the morning I ran out the tent to play with my new friends next door and that was too much fun, there wasn't even a front door to open. I might try camping again. Polly is going to take me.
We hurried home as we thought it was going to be our second last day with Claire and Olivia. We found them at a beautiful big lake called Narrabeen, where Mummy, Olivia and I got in a canoe and tried to row to England. It was a bit far, so we just went round an island we got to first before England, saw a pelican and went back to Australia. Too exciting.
Easter weekend was starting and I am aware that there sometimes chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs at Easter time. I had been talking about this since about Christmas time. Livy and I got a basket with eggs in AND bunnies from Auntie Freya. We also went to a big party which Mummy says was the first day they opened a huge big pub /
party place looking over the sea, and there were hundreds of people and clowns and games and music and food. (Free champers, oysters and king prawns, bingo! Ed.). I danced and ate and Mummy, Claire, Freya had cocktails and a lovely time. It was called the Newport Inn and I will go there again when I next live in Australia. I was still quite full of beans (sugar and E numbers) from my Easter bunny, so on Easter Monday Auntie Freya took us to Taronga Zoo. It's right by the sea and all the animals can see across the harbour to the city. I liked the the koala bear best, and also the giraffes - Gerald the Giraffe is one of my favourite books. We went in another cable car, and saw sea lions doing diving tricks. I bought a kangaroo since I promised to bring one home to nursery (stuffed, $45, ed.).
The last few days we have tried to go to the rest of the beaches in Australia we haven't been to yet, but there are quite a lot so it's a bit tricky. We went to Shelley beach again, where Claire got a job offer to
do important work in the big city, so she was excited which meant she and Mummy had too much wine and champagne. I don't really know why they like it so much, I don't need yellow water to shout loudly and do my dancing. We have also played at Fairlight Beach - good shells and boats to watch, and Little Manly - good swimming, swings, sandcastles, and a jellyfish. I think there's a few more beaches we've missed, but I'll cover them next time our aeroplane flies to Australia. We are seeing some friends at the jellyfish beach Clontarf tomorrow, then flying home to Bosham. I feel happy and sad at the same time, which is a bit silly really.
