Last days Sydney
We travelled in to circular quay then on to Darling Harbour to go to the wildlife encounter however after being at Sydney zoo yesterday it was a bit of a disappointment. The talks on the Koala and Crocodile were very interesting but many of the exhibits were difficult to see as they were in the dark. We did see a wombat asleep and a Kookaburra very close up and the salt water crocodile did move and swim off to cool down which was sooo exciting! I had actually thought it was plastic as it was so still. We walked back to pick up the ferry and stopped for a drink overlooking Darling Harbour very nice it actually felt like we were on holiday. We love the Manly Ferry it takes about half an hour as it winds its way back to Manly. The staff are always friendly and will talk to you and we usually end up chatting to someone new.We shopped for groceries in Manly then travelled back to Freshwater and went for a dip in the sea there just what you need after a hard days sightseeing. That evening we went to Aubergine a lovely restaurant in Manly overlooking the sea, for a final meal out with Harry and Lea.Next morning, our last day we went to the pool at Curl Curl, and after two lengths Steve went in the sea closely joined by Harry. I stayed in the pool and chatted to a guy who had had a knee op. He was just exercising but talked to me of his life in Aus and how had he bought in Curl Curl twenty years ago it would have cost him $200,000 but now it was $2,000,000 for the same house, that's what happens to prime places to live.We went back and Steve had a hair cut then we packed up and generally got things ready for our trip. We went to Westfield shopping to get some money for Vietnam and Cambodia, its massive and just a short ride from Freshwater. I could have stayed there all day but I couldn't let Steve go back alone on the bus he might have got lost. I'm joking! Just.We couldn't pack everything in so once again we had to post things back. Felt a little worried as post from NZ had not got back to the UK. Luckily in Australia they still have surface mail so although it would take time for things to arrive back home it would be a little cheaper than posting in NZ where they only have airmail. We went for a final visit to Freshwater beach bringing the surfboard and had such fun in the waves, both Steve and I caught some good rides on the surf it is such fun. I looked to my left on the last wave and there were two children about 6 or 7 years old and I thought 6 or 60 it doesn't mater it is so exhilarating. We were on our way back and Harry and Lea were passing in the car so we joined them and went for another trip to Curl Curl. We tried surfing there but the waves were not as strong and the waves were coming in all directions, there was also quite an undertow so thoroughly exhausted by now we washed the sand off and went to a bench where we sat and had a beer looking out at the waves, a lovely way to end the holiday. Lea cooked a fish risotto which was delicious and needing to get up by 5.15 we

all had an early night.Next morning Harry and Lea took us to the airport and we arrived just before 6.30 saying our final goodbyes not easy to do. We checked in so quickly, then a good breakfast and a long journey on a plane to Vietnam via Hong Kong.
