Wooloomooloo bars along the quayside The last couple of days we have spent around Bondi and the city.
We took a walk around the next few headlands to Coogee ("could-gee") bay on Friday afternoon, after Hazel spent the morning in the local Westfield mall (always important to know where your next shopping fix is coming from). Mark took on the chin-up challenge along the cliff-top path to Coogee - and managed a measly 4! Hazel declined to try, in case she embarassed him...
On Saturday, we worked out how to take a bus, which involves buying a ticket before you board and then dunking it into the ticket machine the number of zones you want to cross. We bused to Paddington Market and had a wander around. It was similar to Greenwich market with paintings and crafts, and loads of nice dresses and jewelley, which Hazel managed not to buy. Afterwards we went into a local photography exhibition mentioned in the guide book. (It was interesting. Nuf said!)
We walked up through Kingscross to Wooloomooloo (which is the most number of "oo"s Hazel has ever seen in a word before), and then out onto the Harbour Bridge to check out the views

Christmas tree next to the lifeguard's hut We spent Sunday on the beach, where some dodgy sun creaming, and general British enthusiasm for sunshine, lead to "Christine style" tanning/burning (in Mark's case). Monday will definitely have to be a sun-bathing day off!
We've also started to fill in our Aussie dictionary (we've been getting some strange looks for not knowing the lingo)...
Long black = black americano
Cash out = cash back
Bogan = chav (a personal favouraite - there are some Bogans on Jan and Alek's road, called Colin and Colleen, who have an impressive Christmas light display)
Schooner = 3/4 pint - not really sure why you need a measure of 3/4?!

Hi Guys
Think you need to work on the sun tans! Although I notice Mark is doing the old cheat by wearing a white tee shirt after dark . Love the Christmas Tree on the beach!
