Although it's cold, there's no mozzies....
Having just left sunny Fiji, we were in for a shock when we arrived in Sydney.
It was cold and wet.

The complete opposite to what it was in the new year, when we were there for the fireworks.
(We "poms" are led to believe, Australia is hot and sunny all year round.)

Turns out is was to be the wettest April for 25 years, and they were to have 13 consecetive days of rain. (The worst for 75 years)
And we were to experience 8 of them -JOY JOY.

We'd booked to stay 4 days in a hostel in kings cross with free internet - We made good use of the internet and managed to catch up on some of our blogs.
(But we didn't expect it to be a right dump).

The place was old and dated.
The shared showers etc were gross.
There was free breakfast each morning, but having seen the kitchen we decided not to partake.

A free sunday roast was also available, but this was supplied in a table dancing club!
I ask you "Who in their right minds would want someone dancing in their sunday roast"?

So after

(Had you going there didn't we?)

Our inital plans were to hire a campervan for the rest of the stay, but it's not much fun in a campervan when it's cold and wet.

So our plans changed...

We found a much better hostel the D*lux in kings cross, it cost the same as the last one.
However we managed to get an extra $5 a night discount by booking for 2 weeks.
(Making it cheaper than the last one)

A recently refurbished backpackers, with great views of the city and an en suite bathroom.
There was a great mix of people.
(It's funny how the youngsters want to talk to us, especially after they find out where we have travelled).

They also had a free "barbeque & goon" night, and a $2 "pizza & goon" night. ("Goon" is cheap wine).

These nights are a must do.

They also had the usual party nights, with free drinks in different clubs.
But at our age it takes a couple of days to get rid of a hangover (and we had a few of those),
so we found it hard to

Just catching up with you!
Cold rain is a shock, isn't it?! (Well, not here, it isn't.) Great to see you are still loving it. I'm sure that is skim in the box. Isn't that cheating on travel costs??

Skim in a box?
Why didn't we think of that! It would have saved us a small fortune. Trouble is, she's not as bendy as Em!!!
