yummy!!
the lovely meal of bangers and mash!!! Hey again!
God.. I left England exactly a week today, been in Sydney 5 days.. that’s amazing- it feels like I’ve been here months!!
Ok, so just to update you with the last couple of days… on Saturday night it was the end of “octoberfest” so big party down in the hostel bar.. there was various games and a lot of booze!! But us English had more important things on our minds… the rugby of course!!! Now, the match started here at 5 in the morn, but we were determined to stay up and watch it!! So instead of going to bed and getting up at 5, we decided to stay up all night (no wonder I haven’t got over my jetlag yet!!??) anyway, when 5 o’clock came, we trundled off to “cheers” the only English bar around, where it was absolutely heaving with English and French people!! We quickly marked our spot by the bar (and they actually sold proper pints in here, rather than scooners!!) whenever England scored everyone started singing, it was just like being at home!! And when they won the atmosphere was amazing!!
What was the funniest tho, was at 8 o’clock, all the
ooo
eating pretzels at 'octoberfest'! English trundled outside of various bars on their way home (the French had long since left!) everyone was drunk and singing, walking past the Sydney people were all on their way to work!! Was surreal!!
So got back to the hostel and went straight to bed!! Got up around 3 and me, chris and nat went to ‘paddys market’ this place was unbelievable.. as like much of Sydney, you might as well have been in china! But in here, they were all shouting, barging, screaming! It was shocking! Tho we did buy some cool hats!!
That evening, I cooked sausage, mash and onion gravy for about 6 people (not easy considering, I had no potato peeler, could only use1 hob, and had to cater for a veggie!! But hey.. it turned out ok!!
The next day, we decided to do something productive so we went to a koala park.. it was amazing!! As soon as we arrived, a woman shouted at us… “you wanna pet a wombat?” we went over and she was holding this big teddy bear type thing!! Was so cute, but apparently really vicious!! We then went to see the koalas, they are adorable, they sleep in
awwwww
its a real live teddy bear!! between twigs in the trees and were so cute! She put one on the rails of the pen so we could pet it and have pictures etc. we then explored the rest of the zoo… one of our favourites was the cockatoos… as you walked up they spoke, chris, being extremely camp said “hello darling” and about a minute later, one of the brids repeated it!! As I laughed, one of the birds exactly copied my laugh!! So as you can imagine, we soon got saying rude things and these birds would screech it out!! They also danced on the bars and if you made a noise would puff all their feathers up!! As we left, a family, with 2 small children went up to the cage, only to be treated to all the obscenities we had just taught the birds!! Ha ha!!!
We then found the kangaroos.. I had bought food and it was an open pen, so you could go up and feed, stroke them, they’re wasn’t even a zoo keeper there, they were just so tame!
So that was a pretty cool day, we then had to get back on the train, and the bus…only got lost
ha!
the obscene cockatoos!!! once this time!!
When we got back, a group of us went to the park and chilled out in the sun, and that evening was pretty relaxed.
The next day we decided, as the weather had finally turned nicer, to hit manly beach. It was a bit of a mission as it was about an hour walk across Sydney, but then we got a ferry across so sailed past the opera house and under the bridge! We arrived at the beach, which was gorgeous, it was just inundated with flies!! Although Sydney is a really clean city.. its full of flies in the day time.. they nearly drive you to despair, until dusk comes and they eventually go away… out come the moths…. In their thousands!!
I went in the sea!.. it was freezing!!! But also quite scary as there's been a few shark attacks in the area… every movement under the water we all screamed!! He he!!
On the way back we went through manly town, it’s a gorgeous surfing village and think I may come back and stay there for a while, was really chilled out and fun! We stoped and had a coffee in a swank café
bless
think this kangaroo is trying to steal the limelight!!! and then got the ferry home.
On the way back me and nat bought England tops (so we can support England in style in the final) and a box of “goon”… a box of really cheap wine.. everyone drinks it out here!!
So that’s you up to date!! Hope alls well with everyone at home and your not missing me too much!! ;-)
Text me on my ozzie or English mob, or email / facebook me.. its cool to hear from you!
lots of love, hugs and goons!
