Monday Me and Tag went to the beach... Bondi that is, such a thrill to be there but after a while its like... meh... it's just a beach and in the whole grand scheme of things not that big and way too over-crowded. Finished the evening with a BBQ on Bondi then went to a club for about an hour.
I COMPLETELY FORGOT!!!! We saw Hugh Jackman on Bondi beach.......... Tuesday We departed Ems' house, but not quite on our adventures yet, we went to Maroubra beach (South of Bondi) where a friend of Em and Tags' was teaching surfing. Having met her over the weekend Alissa had invited us to stay at her parents for a couple of night. They lived about 2 hours drive north of Sydney near a place called Wyong, well why not, a couple more nights in a proper bed. Got there around 6ish and headed out for dinner.
Wednesday Alissa was teaching surfing again on behalf of Roxy, for those of you who don't know thats Quicksilver for girls. This was the hottest day ever recorded on the planet anywhere EVER! Well maybe not but it felt like it,
we were told it was 35 degrees and windy on the beach, which consisted of coarse sand and tiny shells so it really hurt when blowing on you. So the sun bathing didn't last too long. Spent the rest of the day sat under a tree enjoying the view (and the landscape). Departing the beach Alissa made a suggestion of going to her sisters house who has a swimming pool in the garden, i was all over that idea, i had lost about 2 stone in body water. Had to be home for about 7ish as Alissas' mum was cooking dinner for us. A nice home cooked meal, now thats something i have really missed (especially mums Lasagna) I have to say though this meal was amazing, corned beef but not as we know it, roasties, veg, white cheese sauce and oddly garlic bread but i can assure there wasn't much left after i had finished. One last good nights sleep before we start out on our own properly.
Thursday Left around 11am heading to Nelson Bay as it was recommended for dolphin watching cruises. Arrived at lunchtime made ourselves some sangers (sarnies to us British) and bought
a ticket for a cruise. We had about an hour to kill so of course, went shopping. Our trip was about to start so we headed to our boat and boarded. After scouring the bay for about 20 mins we finally got our first glimps of a dolphin even if it was just a dorsal fin. All in all an amazing trip out, one pod of 3 actually swam right under the boat which was a sight. Accommodation was different - Samurai beach YHA, wooden lodges in the woodlands, even the kitchen was open aired on a wooden decking, had a roof though. Bazaar but a pleasant change from the hectic busy hostels. We made Tags famed Mac 'n' Cheese that night and although we couldn't grill the cheese on top it was still awesome.
Friday Up and out by 10am to do a 300+ Km drive to Port Macquarie (ma-quarry). But not before we tested out our new baby for what it was meant for, Off roading. Back in the direction we have to go to get out is a beach with 4WD access. So we let our tyres down a bit and hop onto the sand.
This was awesome throwing it over dunes booting it through small freshwater pools. We got talking to an Ozzy family who was out doing the same thing, next thing i know he gets a rope and a wooden board out the boot and ties it to the tow bar, one of his kids gets out and sits on it, NO WAY!!! Followed them for a bit then did our own thing again. 10 mins later we come across them again and he asks if i would like a go, course i bloody do. The little bugger went through water and everything but was absolutely wicked fun. Apart from there being sand everywhere after, even in my mouth and nose, who would of thought you needed to keep ya mouth shut, i was too busy shouting "wwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" to care anyways.
We had no real plans in Port Macquarie it was just a stepping stone to Coffs Harbour. Saying that we did treat ourselves to a nice Italian restaurant, with red wine of course.
Saturday Again a 10am departure for a 2-3 hour drive to Coffs, fairly easy drive saw us get there for around 1pm. The Coffs Harbour
YHA is only 18 Months old and was emaculate, it felt like a hotel. Clean everything, swiming pool, massive walk-in fridge (it was bloody cold in there), really nice sized kitchen and eating area the list goes on. We could of stayed there for ages if there was loads to do in the area, which unfortunately there wasn't. Well not anything we aren't going to do in New Zealand IE Sky Diving, Bungies etc. Had a relaxing walk down to the jetty, gale force winds encouraged us to not hang about. So obviously, we went shopping. Might i take a moment at this point to add that up to this moment i have bought more new clothes than Tag 😊. Rest of the day was basically take 5 relax and catch up with ourselves having barely stopped the last few days.
Sunday England vs Australia at 5am, i didn't get up, God doesn't allow it. Needless to say we all know the result of that match. I got up ..... eventually shall i say. Main part of the day was actually working out if there was anything worth doing in Coffs and the only thing that caught our
eye was something called The Big Banana. So we booked in another night so we had all day Monday to spend there.
