The McQuairie was full so we couldn't book further nights so we moved on to Roslyn Garden apartments. The apartment - really good facilities and very helpful and friendly staff, immediately impressed us. The nearby Kings Cross area is a bit tacky and sordid - lots of strip joints, sex shops and dubious massage parlours but it is also very 'character'. We headed back into town and met Jenny Nagel for lunch and went to a local hostelry for food. It was lovely to meet her and reminisce on Africa. She has offered to drive us to the airport when we leave and we took her up on the offer to stay at her place on the eve of departure. In the evening we walked all the way back into town to visit the aquarium. The tunnel through the deep shark tanks is wonderful - as are the coral tanks. We saw our first ever platypus that was quite active. Snug in our apartment later we enjoyed some cheap but tasteful local wine.
