Me sandwiched between the Irish, drinking in our room before the game
Hello my loyal readers, randoms and people here by accident. The next update of the trip, now 2 weeks in, I'm afraid this blog won't be massively interesting because basically i've not done anything! That kind of works in your favour though as it means this won't be the usual 3 hour essay-mini mexican wave and celebrations at your computers I think.

So anyways where to begin, well I think I left you last time I had just finished detailing the great depression, the revival and better frame of mind (thanks for comments and emails of support by the way people, truly am fine now and I can also report happily that my mum has just about stopped crying now, local flood warnings have been removed). The week has passed quickly, but I have hand on heart not done much at all but laze about and drink-not a bad way to waste a week I admit. I blame the Irish, they are relentless! Basically the weekend just passed was rammed full of sport, so of course we had to be out for all of those games, we quickly realised this meant that there was no point in getting a job yet

Fight club and his $70 hat, he hardly took it off
as we wanted to be out all the time and then spend at least Monday recovering (there is some logic here!) Well with that decision made it was only made more sense to therefore go out all week, have one big final mass spending/drinking week, and then from Tuesday onwards look for jobs.. a master plan i think you will agree! and thus it passed, I have worked out that in the last 12 days we have been out drinking etc for 11 of them!!!In the olden days this was no problem, i positively relished it, i counted down the days till the lads holidays and doing it for 2 weeks straight. I am now old, my liver hurts, i want my mum.

So the week has basically been waking up tired and groggy (amazingly for me i get no hangovers here, i think their beer has less chemicals and crap in it, which for me is superb as i usually suffer badly)lazing about all day, then preparing for the night and doing it all again. I did have one productive day though, on Wednesday I had a sudden surge of energy and sorted my Aus bank account, medical

card, a permanent mailing address (see bottom of page) and finalised the plans of where I will live from now on. Fight club left yesterday to go fruit picking due to him having literally no money left, well actually he went on Wednesday, bought a $70 tent with the last of his money, got a lift there, found there was no work that week, turned around and spent more money coming back, in the process losing the tent and never using it. He got a free hat with the tent which he still has, and so wears it 24/7 to get his money worth. He then left again on Saturday for a different area to do fruit picking, so we therefore expect him back any hour now. I love fight club, we miss him already, but it has to be said there is a slight sigh of relief now that I won't be living with him, the fact that we named him after the psychoticly crazy blowing up buildings character from the film was used with a touch more irony in later weeks, he is definitly a fair few sandwiches short of a picnic, a few beers short of a

six-pack, a handful of screws loose, has a kangeroo loose in the top paddock etc etc! In fact let me just paste in the text he sent me yesterday, pretty much sums him up, and you think i write long blogs!:

Think I might have a job, something to do with driving, asparagus and counting, will find out for sure on tuesday night. Hostel is 100 a week, has a bar, 3 pool tables, table tennis, big screen tv with dvd player...but there is nothing else to do in this town. My dorm has 2 irish girls and a canadian girl. Loads of irish here, cant seem to escape them. They breed like a pack of nympho rabitts running rampant through a viagra factory.

We TRULY miss him.

So I am currently in a room with the 2 irish Andy and Gavin, and Gavins kind of on/off girlfriend Natalie (they were together back home, bumped into each other here, have been joined at the hip ever since, shes awesome though). Nat leaves on Thursday and then on the 12th February the Irish and I move to Bondi Junction. I am currently paying $170 for my room in

the 4 bed dorm, which just has 4 beds and a bathroom, in the apartment we are paying $100 each for an apartment with 2 beds, kitchen, bathroom, laundry, TV etc-a bargain! They got it before I met them so I will actually be living on the setee (hey im only iccle anyway!)and then in 4 weeks Andys girlfriend arrives, so she and him will have the apartment and myself and Gav will go get our own apartment-ideally in the same building. It is on Bondi Junction so right in the heart of things and a 5 minute or so bus ride to the beach, will try and get pics up next blog when we move in. The move of rooms this week did mean that I have to part with my pink duvet, heartbreaking! I had grown quite attached to the pink, camp girl power covering. We are still in the same hostel which is cool as I really like it, its like a second home seeing as I also stayed here last time, so I know where everything is and is close to literally all you could want. (Yank/Homes/Haines-they built a new arcade right on the corner by

the hostel, it has everything, food court, shops, bottle shop and Coles etc, superb). There is also a new Thai restaurant next door now, its got a GENIUS name too- Thaitanic!! I bet the food always goes down well in there.....(come on people thats comedy gold, I know my fellow pun masters Chris, Yank and Haines will love that, send me anymore you come up with!) My local is still here too, Scruffy Murphys, loving the place, me and the Irish practically live there, leaving it behind for Bondi will be a wrench!

Apart from lazing around in the days me and Andy also went on a gay cinema date which was simply super! We even sat in the back rows, I wouldn't let him kiss me though, not on a first date anyways-these Irish are so forward! Sadly I couldn't take the pink duvet in with us to cwtch under! We saw Stranger than Fiction, a good Will Ferrell movie I enjoyed. Sitting around in the hostel drinking before we go out has also got me hooked on a few TV shows too sadly. This will please some people, one is 24 (yes Chris after months of abusing you

for it, and 6 series in, I am now hooked on the new series, sigh, I feel dirty) and also Prison Break (Lou and Homes get the dvd's ready as when I return we are watching the entire first series in one sitting, I'm now hooked on the second series after seeing a couple). Finally another US show called Heroes which I don't think is in the UK yet but is shaping up nicely. Another event from this week was meeting up with an old friend from back home, Helen, I think she is an honourary member of the Barry Massive-she's not from Barry and worse still is English!!But we love her anyway, and her friend Kate-she goes out with a Welshman so is petioning hard for entry (oooh Chris) who is also a brilliant girl, as is her Dad!(over visiting her). He came out one night to watch the England vs Scotland rugby game (booo the scum won!) but that was a good night actually and of course by the end of it I was calling him Daddy and promising to come around for Sunday lunch-some things never change.

This leads me on to my final point, the

Fairly sober while warming up for the game, the guy on the left is Damien, randomly he was a year below me in both my schools and I bumped into him at the game-small world!
rugby last night, sniffle! Wales lost to the Irish, although it was a great game to be fair and I think we were robbed and they were definetly lucky to win it I-although our fault due to our errors and not taking our chances. I have to be honest though a part of me was kind of happy they won! I was in Scruffys again, a feverent Irish bar, in there was roughly 200 Irish and I swear to you about 10 Welsh! I was expecting a lynching if we won! The other thing was it was actually a great night, stunning atmosphere and made all the better by Ireland winning, if Wales has killed them then it would have been flat so a sneaky part of me was a little glad. There was great banter all night, and as you know from the Irish loads of singing and drinking etc, it was electric and even better that it was a close game for ages, the place was buzzing. I did try some Welsh singing and had loads of abuse and banter going, luckily most of them took my shoutings of paddys, potato lovers, pikeys and terrorists etc fairly well
U looking at me???U looking at me???U looking at me???

Not a clue, I think Ireland may have just scored?!
ha ha. All good fun though. The atmopshere looked great in the stadium and I wished I was there but I tell you that these handfull of Irish sure made it seem like we were there, and man can they party after a win! lol. So all in all despite the loss it was a really good night and a fitting end to the crazy week.

OK I have done it again, despite nothing to say I have written a thesis, apologies, it seems I can write for hours even when talking about not much. But I hope you are enjoying the blog anyway, I am certainly loving hearing from you all and have loads of comments so cheers guys and girls, its awesome logging on and reading them and knowing that i'm not just writing to myself (my last blog was viewed 200 times so far, woo! I only emailed 60 people telling that about it-I think it may be my mum reading it hourly lol). My contact address here is:

Business Wrecker
you are wrecking my small business with these long blogs. Went online to check my emails before i start my first garden plan on monday morning. it is now approaching 10am and i am still online. Glad you took the defeat well. Ask the Irish boys if they seen the Tyrone beat the Dubs 11-10, at the first 'under lights' match in Croke Park at the weekend. It was excellent. Chat soon. Slan

Bits
Good read bro, stop being paranoid that they are too long, im reading them during my PPA time, fantastic. Was pissing myself at the titanic pun. Have been racking my brains to think of my own pun, but none are as good. Do you reckon they "dock" workers wages if they arent working up to standard? Thats just the tip of the iceberg (geddit....huh...huh....come on....) My coats on..... Anyway, will phone you soon mate and send you over a little something (ooh). Missing you mate, enjoy yourself and keep me posted!

2 weeks done!!
Not a bad weekend of rugby for the "humble" English and the "Slightly sexy" Irish, good to see my favourite Welshman proudly wearing the shirt. Am considering putting your name down for a liver swap / transplant ready for your return. Missing you a bit still i suppose xxxx
