My Aussie Chrissy
Hey! MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL 😊
I know my last entry was a bit of a downer, so I promise this one will lift your spirits! You can say a great situation arose from a chain of unfortunate events... After the events that took place my last night at surf camp, I wasn't very focused on planning Christmas arrangements. I was originally supposed to take the bus back to Sydney on the sunday night to join Jessie, however because the police held the bus for investegation, that wasn't going to be possible. That night (the night of the accident), those of us that were involved hung out in the manager's house trying to keep each other as occupied as possible, away from those who wanted to hear details about what had happened. The driver of the bus (Bry) & I had become good friends over my stay at surf camp. We decided that we were going to attempt to arrange an alternative bus back into Sydney the next day, to get away from the chaos. We packed our things the next morning and did so... we picked up his car & headed
back to his place which was located about 50 minutes outside of Sydney in a town called Castle Hill. I was NOT expected to pull into a bloody mansion though! The next day, we hit up a shopping center to do some Christmas shopping - later on that evening his parents asked if I would join their family for Christmas. I talked to Jessie & decided that I would take them up on the offer...
Christmas eve was a blast! We spent it at Bry's dad's place which is located on a river - you had to take a boat to get there. The crew consisted of Bry & his 2 brothers, 2 young cousins, aunt & uncle, mom & dad & obviously, me. We enjoyed some wine & beer, then later enjoyed a MASSIVE seafood feast: Prawns, lobster, oysters, fish, corn, toasties, vegetables.... oh man. soooooooooooooooooo delicious (obviously not as good as my mother's home-cooked turkey dinners though!). After dinner, we all gathered on the dock for Santa's arrival on his boat. It's pretty neat actually - anybody who lives on the river can preorder a stocking for their kids & then it is personally delivered by the
jolly man himself. After Santa did his thing, we headed back up to the house to jam on the guitar. Bry's 2 brothers are both guitar teachers, so obviously I was my own little heaven. We headed back to his mom's place/mansion after the night came to an end.
6:50am... Tess & Katie (the two young cousins, one 6 & one 13) came banging on the door, waking us up for Christmas. I'm pretty sure this was the first Christmas that someone woke up before ME! lol We all gathered by the tree to open gifts... holy crap was this the most massive pile of Christmas presents I had ever seen in my life!! It actually took the family a solid 3 hours to get them all opened up. This family was quite a laugh and the gifts that they got each other were hilarious! I was very pleasantly shocked to find a few presents for me 😊 Bry's gift to me was my favourite perfume that I forgot to bring to the Oz. Kind of a funny story: for the past 2 days we had been Christmas shopping, I'd go to the perfume section of a store to
use the tester bottle because I missed it so much. Bry just laughed at me each time & I suppose felt it was a little pathetic. Worked out in my favour though! Bry also wrapped up a box of Froot Loops for me because I guess he had overheard me talking about how it was tradition in our family... His brothers got me some chocolates (just what I need... as if.), & his mom got me Body Shop stuff & PJs. Everyone was soooooooooo kind to me & really made me feel welcome.
For lunch, we all gathered around the table for what I'm used to being Christmas dinner - we had ham, turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, potatoes, veggies, more toasties... it was kind of funny eating this kind of meal mid-day, but delicious nonetheless. After lunch, Bry & I spent a couple hours assembling his new lego "Technic" machine! lol. I definately could have closed my eyes & pictured Greg & I doing the same thing back at home. A siesta quickly came in the mid afternoon, & around 6:30, Bry & his brother's friends came over for a Christmas bash. They were very nice people & reminded
Take 2
The ONeill Fam + me me of all my friends - just a laid back fun time.
Today is boxing day & I am spending it with Jessie at the Horse Races. Bry dropped me off this morning at about 7:15am, so I am just killing time until she wakes up. It should be a good time.
I hope all of you had an incredible Christmas 😊 Ate lots, drank lots, ate some more & opened up lots of presents. I miss you all & hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers.
