We both really liked Sydney and probably could have spent a lot more time there. We stayed in Kings Cross which was a bit dodgy. It is the red light district, there were prostitutes and junkies everywhere. Michael got propositioned by a junkie prostitute one night when he went to the shop haha. The place didn't seem unsafe it just a a few dodgy characters. Kings cross is also where the best nightlife and the cheapest accommodation so that is why we stayed there. We stayed in Jackaroo Hostel and they were only four bed dorms luckily on our first night there was no one else do we had the dorm to ourselves. On our first day in Sydney we went to Bondi Beach. It was the windiest day though and sand was blowing everywhere so we couldn't stay on the beach for too long, shame it wasn't a nice day but was definitely good to see!!
That night we went to a couple ofPubs in Kings Cross and with our hostel we got free entry and a drink to a nightclub which just reminded us of rockafellas. We also had another couple called James and Ellie move into our hostel who we went out with one night. We went on a free tour around Sydney the next day. It isn't really free because the guide works on a tipping basis. He was really good though and it probably was better than any tour we would of paid for. We saw the Sydney opera house, the harbour bridge, the rocks and loads of other places. The bridge and opera house were really cool and then we walked through the botanical gardens to get to the viewpoint where you can take a picture of the opera house and bridge together to get the best pictures but the light was in the wrong place so the pictures don't look too great. We also went to china town and had a look around the Paddy's Markets. On our last day in sydney we went to palm beach where Home and Away is filmed. We saw the surf club but the whole place was really quiet and we were not on a tour so didn't get to see anything else. It is a very pretty beach :-) Love Katie & Michael x x x
