Not bad for winter mate!!

G'day!

So, we are in Sydney now, been here 2 days so far. It's supposed to be the Winter over here but it's been about 19/20c so far and sunny most of the time, so quite different to the Winter's we are used to! Think we're gonna melt when Summer arrives!

Sydney is cool, but quite expensive, so it's probably a good thing we are only here for two weeks before we head up to Cairns in the North.

Our first hostel is pretty good. In our room we have a sink, fridge and a telly which are three things I didn't really expect from a hostel. The place is clean and the showers are hot, so can't complain! There is also free breakfast thrown in.

Yesterday we walked around the Royal Botanic Gardens and then around Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Got some good pics. (there will be pics on here at some point, but so far, we have managed to blag free internet access, but the computers are quite old so our SD card won't fit and we can't upload pics yet, but soon we'll part with a couple of bucks and go to a decent internet cafe!!).

Last night we had our first night out here, near where we are staying in Kings Cross. It was really good - went to cool indie bar where drinks were really reasonable, then to a club underneath where some bands were playing. One of the bands were from Cambridge! Small world hey.

We were suffering today so wandered round in a daze for a while and then decided to go to Sydney Aquarium. Saw a duck billed platypus - never seen one of those before!

We are hoping to go to the Blue Mountains soon. They are supposed to be very picturesque with lots of caves, waterfalls etc.
