Perfect Sunrise
Back on Dan's Last morning. Hello Family and Friends....
Well spring is here...more like summer for me. Its been in the high 20's all week long. Hardly rains anymore. It will start to get real hot (35 and up) within about a month!
Things have like usual been awesome! We've been working as much as we can...were trying to save up as much as we can so we can live like kings in Thailand. Every purchase now is based on how many days that same amount of money could buy us in Thailand. One CD here....or a day in Thailand...better be a good CD. Work isn't really like the work I'm used to though. The company that I work for has the contract for a lot of the city parks. So they get a fixed amount from the city...and sometimes there isn't much work to be done...so those days we just take it easy. We've been down to Bondi beach a few times during the day. However this week there has been lots to do...so there hasn't been much slacking. Its nice working in the parks. We start at 6:30 and its already 20 degrees out just as the sun comes up, and we
Toms Birthday cake
The healthy version. finish at 2:30...so we don't get too hot. Also I get a lot of freedom at my work because I've been there for a while now, so often its up to me what to do...so yeah, the job is pretty much perfection. Tom is still there as well, eventhough he does a different set of parks, we meet up for lunch and coffee once in a while. And Neil just started working there too! So after all this time...we all have jobs in the same place. Its nice. The company also gets contracts for the special events around the city, so we get to work at them...but again its really easy, and its double time.
A couple weeks ago there was APEC here in Sydney. Its a government event, 21 of the world leaders were there including USA and Canada. So the security was super tight. There were helicopters and cops everywhere. And the city was almost completely shut down. They built this steel wall on each side of a road running through the downtown core to the operah house (where the meetings were held) so the pesidential limos could drive down it. It was heavily guarded. So theres
Harbour Cruise
Neil and I on a harbour cruise with the youth this practical joke TV show here called 'chasers' and they promised they would do something for this APEC event. So they rented limosines and cars and made them all look like fake pesidential vehicles and guards. Funny thing was that they got access to this 'heavily guarded' private road down the city. So they drove down the whole thing and got within feet of all the other presidents. And a guy hopped out of the limo dressed as Osama!! I am surprised he didn't get shot right away...but this tv show is making tons of money of the video they made of this whole thing.
So for this APEC weekend ther was a public holiday and about 40 of us from church went up to a small town about 4 hours north of Sydney called Old Bar. We rented this massive beach house for a few days. It was tons of fun. We were going to do surfing (for the first time here!) but the weather wasn't the greatest. We all ended up going to this waterfall which apparently is the 2nd biggest in the southern hemisphere. It was reall cool...and wet. We saw a bunch of wild Kangaroos
Dishes Danger!
Never knew doing the dishes could cause this must dishes...glass broke underwater...6 stitches later on the way. One of the nights we had a bonfire on the beach....it was an awesome weekend.
We leave for Thailand in about 6 weeks. We are all so excited. We plan on seeing Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. And then we come home just before Christmas. This year has gone by so fast...kinda weird to think about it, but I think we've been here alost 10 months!
We are all still loving Hillsong Church. Its definitally been one of the highlights of the trip. We have a big youth conference comming up next weekend wich should be good. There will be a speaker there from Seattle who we have heard before and he was really good. And then in the beginning of November there is a Mens conference which should also be really good. We have met a lot of really cool people at this church...hopefully some of them will visit Vancouver sometime.
I have a busy few weeks comming up. I signed up for a bunch of overtime at work on weeknights. This month should give us that last bit of cash that we need. Then we will probably quit early November and relax for
Old Bar
The waterfall a week or so before were off to Thailand.
Anyways. I love you all, and I almost miss home...but not yet!
