Good bye England 01,12.17
First stop: South Africa to see my dadddd..
So finally it was time to go back to SA and see dad, he lives in a shared house, pretty messy due to his house mates but I had a bed and that was fine.
We spent most of the time outside, or cooking. The game reserve and the river where they fish and catch crabs was the best part of what bushmans river has to offer but of course the highlight of my trip was spending time with my dad and seeing granny.
I missed him.
I always will.
I thought saying goodbye would get easier but of course it didn't.
BUT.. leaving and knowing he is proud of me. That's something money can't buy!
Sydney:
16.12.17 - 04.04.17
I landed in Sydney and was full of excitement. In my head my plan was, meet Fran, sun bath and explore Sydney and don't work until July.
None of it really worked that way. Fran and I departed 2 and a half weeks after meeting up, I started working 6 days after arriving in Sydney and I didn't explore much for the
first few months. Unfortunately the job I ended up in, expected you to work every day for as long as they needed you. The money was great but the managers were not. Apparently it's ok here in Australia for management to make crude remarks. The other bar staff and floor staff however were great. I made some great friends, and am currently travelling the east coast with two of them.
The money is good here however it is expensive too so working and spending is fine but I definitely didn't like spending while not earning.
While in Sydney I did however manage to explore a little bit. I visited the figure of 8 pools (such an achievement, 12 miles hiking up and down big forests, and a snake chilling on my food). I explored the city, went to a festival, visited the blue mountains (another intense and difficult hiking day), did a boat party on the Sydney harbour, spent Christmas partying at coogee, house parties and the day at the races on Boxing Day. I also of course spent plenty of days on beautiful beaches.
I did however come up against tough times in Sydney, with my
granny passing, making friends with a bad bunch of people, having 2 weeks rent money stolen out of my purse in my work staff room and getting two batches bed bugs (the worst thing of them all) I spent my last 3 weeks crashing on people's sofas to try make back the money and it made me realise how much I'm not alone out here.
I left Sydney on the 4th of April and am currently doing my trip up to Cairns. My itinerary is:
Spot X surf camp
Byron Bay:
- Dolphin Kayaking
- Nimbin
Surfers Paradise
Brisbane
Noosa:
- Everglades
- Australia zoo
Rainbow beach
Fraser island
Whitsundays
Magnetic island:
- Koala bear sanctuary
Great Barrier Reef
Rainforest tour
Will post again soon with updates and pictures of my trip.
I miss you all so much. The hard days have been easier by having you all there to speak to.
I miss home cooked dinner, baths, my own bed, being slim, going to the gym and not paying for my own food.
Love you loads all the way from Australia.
Especially cuddles with Max. Sorry guys but you know he is my
main man :-)
