Crammed Bondi
Find a space and don't move! 30/12/08 = Bondi and Beer Mat games
Finally woke up feeling normal...yeh! Still tired though, which is unbelievable considering spent a whole day in bed. Did get up bit early though, decided to make myself feel better by going for run and running all bad things out of system (a.k.a. goon). Me, Kirst and Gem ran down to and around Botanical Gardens and up Opera House steps. Was a really nice run. Botanic Gardens = big party venue for New Years tomorrow, so while running through, asked a marshall about plans. He sadly informed us that had to have tickets to get in and all tickets sold out. That was our new year foiled!
Ran back to hostel and came back to a v.stressed Hattie and Deb, who then stressed me out. Had tried to book their surf camp, but was full and only a short one available leaving on 2nd Jan = earlier than planned. Deb booked it, but Hattie didn't bother. Meant that my ranch work would be bad timing for Debs camp, so needed to have good think. Couldn't have this serious conversation while covered in sweat from run, so had to get in shower and
have a think. I got in shower and they went off to do Bridge climb. Decided in shower that would have to leave ranch work and me and Hattie could go to Blue Mountains instead and meet Deb in Byron Bay later that week, after surf school finished. Wow...shower = good thinking time.
Got ready to bum about this morning, but was a beautiful, sunny day, so plans changed. Changed to a visit to Bondi Beach. Texted Deb and Hat about plan change, then group of us caught bus to Bondi. Not a long bus journey and gorgeous sunshine when arrived. Completely full of people again, but managed to find a tiny space for us all and crammed in. Sunbathed for a while, then me and Kirst went to get some food = lovely museli and yoghurt pot 😊. Had decided to be very brave and try a surf lesson = v.v.v.v. brave for me. Walked up beach to enquire, only to be thoroughly disappointed (or perhaps saved depending on which way you look at it) that they were fully booked for day. Only spot available was tomorrow at 5am or New Years Day at 6am. Now I'm an

Named for his impecable ability to predict the weather... or maybe just his ability to watch the news? early riser, but there's no way either of those were going to happen - especially on those days of the year!
Went back to beach and had to settle for next best thing = wave surfing. Took me and Kirst ages to get in because so cold, but when did get in, wave jumping and surfing was really cool. My first attempt didn't work out so well, in fact, went horribly wrong! Wave was really strong and threw me head first straight into a random guy. When finally surfaced, guy had gone and head v.sore! Very, very sore. Didn't want to get out because had only just got in, so carried on anyway, even though could feel a large bump forming on forehead. Gem and some of guys came in and went bit deeper and tried few more surf dives = more successful and really fun. When did get out, Hat (Hattie) had arrived too and was chatting to her and some of her friends, but people started noticing lump then. Then everyone noticed. Started to get bit worried as saw peoples reactions and it was pretty sore. Really needed some ice. Bit the bullet and did the only
Me, Kirst and Camilla
Love the daytime shots...not! thing I could...tipped up to lifeguards office and told them I had banged my head and needed some ice. Felt just like a little girl at school. They gave me my little bag of ice and told me to be more careful next time..."yes sir" I said...well not out loud.
Coldness of ice nearly gave me brain freeze against boiling hot sun, but the magic of ice always saves the day...one cure fits all where ice is concerned and it sent my lump straight back down. Lucky I'm the kind of person that really doesn't bruise easily. Chilled out on beach for bit longer, then headed back to hostel at 5, ready for the hostel BBQ at 7. Had to call at woolworths first to buy food for NYE (new years eve) and met Deb outside. Got some general sandwich things, chocolate, crisps and all the normal packed lunch material, then went back to hostel. Not exactly sure where going for NYE yet, but sure we'll need a packed lunch where ever we go.
BBQ had already started when we got back, so paid our $10 and got straight in line. Wasn't a good BBQ and didn't really
The Delightful BBQ
Where meat = 100% water.... well at least it's not bad for you! have enough food for everyone. Burgers were more water than meat! Got to sit down and chill out though and must have drunk at least $5 worth of pure orange juice! Gem went with Will Farrell to bottle shop to get some beers = banned in hostel because of glass, but just couldn't face goon. Stayed on roof all night chatting and having few drinks then. Chatted to Santa, Paul, Weatherman, Well-being Man and Troy and all girls (didn't learn people's real names...went with the nicknames instead). Hostelman went from being really nice to really horrible and threw some of our beer away; not impressed. Had to go and get a shower then anyway and get ready for night. Not supposed to shower near Kirst beacuse get too giggly, but did anyway and took twice as long as should do!
Were last to get ready and by time came out of shower, party had moved downstairs. Rubbish hostel man had kicked everybody off roof and threatened to throw people out who had been drinking beer - idiot! Had another corridor party instead, then headed out. All went to World Bar first to meet up with Santa, but was way

The redeeming feature of Boomerangs too full, so decided to come out and go somewhere else. Split into 2 groups then and we ended up staying in Kings Cross while some of others and Deb went to Gaff. The bar we went in was so quiet and thought was going to be rubbish, but did the best thing we could and made our own fun! Played loads of games, 1 = the beer mat game. Piled up big group of beer mats and had to blow them off; person left with last one = loser. Bit like Jenga. Loser had to do dares though = not good. Gem did a brilliant one when she dropped on one knee, confessed her undying love and proposed to an old guy. Classic. He was speechless. Loads of fun, then left at about 1, really pleased that I wasn't drunk and should hopefully feel fresh for tomorrow. Stayed up chatting for a while, then went to bed.
